What's up guys, just found this site tonight... looks like a good bunch of people- lots of info. You may notice my profile says I ride a 99' ZX750 ... well that was till last Sunday when it was stolen. The cops found it Monday night but it's trashed. Whoever took it must not have had alot of skill. It was found about a mile from where I had parked it. It was all tore up. Ignition broken open, left upper frame dented by the handle bars- all 3 fairings cracked to hell, windscreen and front fairing was cracked in half. Anyway I'm waiting on State Farm to come thru for me and am looking forward to getting a new ride. I wanna upgrade to 1000 cc - I'm looking at the R1 and the GSXR... opinions?

That sucks major ballz! I'm sure State Farm will come thru for ya. I had a couple of comp claims on a bike a few years ago and they came thru really really well for me.

How long have you been riding?

And I don't think you can go wrong with any of those bikes you listed!

That sucks to hear.
I had a bike stolen not to long ago. Surprisingly, I got it back three months later with very minor damage.
Good luck in your search for a replacement.

The Yammy's seem to have the bikes to get this year. But its always good to look at other options. If I were to decide to the ones on your list, Id go with the R1 for sure. Its a gorgeous bike. :luck: with all that Insurance BS and hope to see some pics of your new bike :yesnod:

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry I'm just now responding (5 days later) but I dont have internet service at home right now so I have to do all my posting from work. I definitely have nothing against Kawasaki- I loved my 750- The Yamaha HP is incredible and I've heard so many good things about Suzuki. I really am leaning towards the R1. I have only been riding on the street for a couple years, but have been riding dirt since I was a kid. I am by no means a veteran street rider but I do know my limitations. I've been considering getting into road racing- I might buy my 750 back from State Farm to turn into a track bike. I hear they have a great Road Racing school in Reno NV. I'm thinking about attending.

R1 all the way. I really wanted to get a R6, but everyone told me I would drop it, so I went with the SV. Suzuki's are great bikes, I love mine. Have you sat on both?

Oh yeah, :welcome: :twfrox:

Yeah I've sat on both but haven't ridden either. It's hard to really tell anything from sitting on them. Especially with the damn salesman staring over your shoulder- you know it's funny- you go to buy a car- the salesmen push you to "take a test drive"- you go to a bike shop and you practically have to pay in full before you can sit on the damn bikes. Thanks for the welcome.

Really, you have some bad dealerships around you then. I pretty much had to beg the salesmen to come over and sell me a bike. I sat on everything I wanted at all the places I wanted, R1s, Busas, Ninjas, basically anything that looked cool. Like I said no dealer approached me until I begged one to come sell me a bike. I know test driving a bike is way too different from a car, too easy to drop a bike. I wouldn't let people test drive if I owned a bike dealership either.

How old are you? If you are a young guy I could see why they would get panicky.

I'm 31 but I look about 21. I guess they assume I have no money. I get the impression I'm wasting their time. Last time I went to buy my Raptor the guy looks at me... grunts like he'd rather be at home sleeping- and asked if my parents would co-sign. I told him probably not since I'm 29 yrs old (at the time) and I'm paying cash. His whole attitude changed instantly- he started kissing my ass like it was made of gold. I ended up going to Mississippi to get it cause it was so much cheaper there than Houston. I can't stand salesman. Why can't they just put a price tag on the bikes and if you want one you can take it up to the register- maybe even a self check out like at the grocery store. "please place the item in the bag"... :dthumb:

Some dealers do that. Especially with the high end stuff like the Gixxers and R1's. They sale to quick to haggle over price. They use the mentality of, If you don't buy it. Somebody else will.
