I have a love/hate relationship with riding at night. I love the cooler weather as the bike runs richer and cooler. And I love the less traffic and no radar traps. It gets darker earlier now, but I don't ride often at night because I like seeing everything around me. And I must be losing some night vision, even though I eat carrots all the time.

At night, I notice a lot more scratches in my face shield. I like the heat given off the engine on my legs and I like the soft orange glow from the tach and speedo. There's more deer on the backroads at night and they are difficult to see, and you don't even want to hit a skunk.

I over ride my low beams so I ride with my high beams on, but nobody flashes me except other bikers. During the day, I can gauge my speed as the scenery rushes by, but without the scenery, I seem to speed more.
I didn't ride at night all summer, but lately I've been riding at night and enjoying it.

I love night riding but not doing any recently... will have to wait till spring...
See you guys will hate me as sometime next week I will recieve my new bike, GasMan's Old bike and will be riding all the time.. Perfect weather right now, besides the traffic lights being out for now..
I will be doing a lot of night riding as I work and go to school mostly at night.. I enjoy riding at night but am always more scared of the highway patrol at night.. I can usually spot them during the day in time not to recieve a ticket, but at night it's a little harder..
I think watching for the cops has actually made me a better rider as I find myself constantly scanning the roads for cops, in front and behind me (as well as scanning for and predicting the movements of other cars). I have had cops fly up behind me, literally only a few feet away, as I had been speeding in excess of 15 to 20mph.. I use the engine braking as not to give myself away and get back down to speed, the undercover cars are always the fun ones that will do this.. They have to pace you so if you keep an eye out behind you and are aware of all the cars I have not gotten pulled over yet for that.. SEARCHING FOR SOME WOOD TO KNOCK ON..

I enjoy night riding and don't have the problems you guys do up north as I don't have any nice twisty hills to go riding around and out run my lights in corners.. This is a curse as much as it is a benefit, because I get to ride year round! :p:

:iagree: ...I remember when I met up with TWF member Aggraton...we hit up some twisty's when it was pitch black outside...he kept going so slow and crossing the line, until I took the lead...I kinda got way ahead of him, but I was pushing it. I couldn't see the road too well even though my high beams were on.

i like in town at night without traffic, but hate tewisites at night, u cant possibly see ahead enough in corners at high speed, and a deer hile at full tilt and 80mph on a road that 5 cars a night drive on, doesnt appeal to me, i refer that if i wreck im found and aided right away.
I also dont like it cuz of the cop spotting thing, gotten a ticket with one right behind me in trafifc cuz i didnt know he was there... for 62 in a 35, just accelerating toenjoy a corner under streetlights

i used to not think twice about riding at night in my youth, but as i get older i become increasingly uneasy with it. only because i fear that i am less visible to cars at night, and if they can't even see us in broad daylight, my chances are even worse at night. i stick to in-town night riding, just trolling along. i save the good rides for daytime.

I dont mind riding at night but the wife dont care for me doing it. She hates me riding in on 11-7 shift. She cant stand wandering if I made it in or not. And I dont want to start the practice of calling her and getting her up to say I am ok. She has to get up early enough for work herself. :tt:

I'm with ya guys... no twisties at night! Been there done that! Hated it! On the h/w or in the city is nice!
:iagree: Doing a lot of night riding recently, and I tried the twisty roads at night, and just dont like it. The nice cool leasurely ride home is nice, especially at the end of a long day at work, it reminds me how nice a bike can be, as well as fast.
