Hi,

I'm a newbie and I just bought a 2005 Yamaha R6 along with the Intuitive No-Cut Frame Sliders. I was reading the instructions on how to install then and I don't quite understand. According to the instructions, I'm suppose to remove the "left-side frame bolt (middle mount - black frame)" and the "right side engine mount bolt (forward lower mount)" on my R6. I don't know where these bolts are on my bike. I tried to look it up in my motorcycle manual but the manual doesn't reference them at all. Can someone please help me?

First :welcome:

Second, there are quite a few R6 owners here that should be able to help.

However, let me try...

Remove the side fairings
The bolts in questions should go thru the frame and into the motor
Remove those and replace them with the frame slider and BAM!

second. I can post up some pics of the cut in frame sliders which it should be the same bolt. I had the pics of my buddies R6, however they got destroyed along with my laptop a few weeks ago. He will send me the pics when he gets home in a little while.

The no-cut frame sliders are not as protective due to the bracket making weird bends to come out of the fairing hole. They should be fine if you drop the bike or a slow mph crash, however the no-cut version has the tendancy to rip the engine bolt right out, or do more damage to the bike than if you didn't have anything at all.

The cut version allows that slider to stick straight out at 180 degrees which is solid.

Pictures would be great and very helpful SVupON1. Thanks! Even when I take off the fairings I don't exactly know how to tell which one is the frame bolt and the engine mount bolt.

G Man said it right. Take the fairings off. Look for the big bolts in the frame, just below where your knees would be while setting on the bike. :luck:

Wow...thanks Gas Man. That's a lot of useful pictures that can help me. My sliders doesn't quite look like the ones in the pics, but still somewhat similar. You, or anyone else, wouldn't happen to have pictures of the Intuitive No-Cut Frame Sliders for the 05 R6 and what it looks like on the R6, would you? If not, it's cool. I'm gonna see what I can do with all the helpful info you and everyone else have given me. I shouldn't have any problems now installing the sliders. Don't worry, I won't leave TWF. TWF Rocks! :twfrox:

my friend sent me like 15 photos today...but he forgot to send me the freakin frame slider pics :cursin: I'll check my work email real quick...maybe he sent them there.

Speaking from experience of dropping an '05 R6 that had no-cut sliders on it, you really should just buy the regular sliders. Most likely what will happen is the bracket for the no-cuts will bend and scratch the frame as it rotates backward from the force of the drop and slide. It could be much worse and rip the bolt out of the hole, although I haven't seen any instances where that happened. However, I HAVE seen the bent bracket and scratched frame. Plus, when you go down, the bolt head will put a mark in your plastics. You might as well put on regular sliders now, because you will want to after you drop the bike on the right side. Just my opinion that is based on personal experience.
