Well, I've been asked as to why I'm such a pesimistic person (you know, glass always half empty). Well, this is why!

I decided to go out and ride the bike tonight. Nothing else better to do but finish up school work and I'm bored. So I get all the gear on and go outside. Walk up to the bike and notice that some freakin' stupid hick decided to rip off my temporary tags that were on the bike! They didn't just unscrew the WING NUTS, they ripped the entire thing off the bike. I'm glad that they didn't mess up the bike, or from what I can see they didn't.

But now three questions:

1. Why rip off the tags when you could've just unscrewed the wingnuts which would have taken you like all of 2 minutes?

2. Why steal temporary tags there were EXPIRED?!?

3. Can I ride the bike without tags and still having the registration in my wallet?

So that is why I am pesimistic. Nothing ever goes my way, I have no luck and if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all! Someone wanna win an easy poker game? Play with me at the table, you'll easily take my money!

That's sucks @ss Graff.... why did you have wing nuts anyway? People that vandalize things are not going to take the time to unscrew a wing nut, they are looking for the quickest way out. Obviously ripping the tag was the fastest way without getting caught. I don't think they were looking to see if the tag was expired. I don't know what you can do about riding legally....since you try to have colorado tags and live in texas and all....that's going to be a trick until you get your permenate tag in. If you filed in Texas you would be able to get another temp, OR atleast put a note where the tag goes saying "Tag filed for" Just some @ss hole Graff...they are out there.

The wingnuts were what the dealer put on the bike to hold the temporary on. When I get the real tags, I'm gonna use lock-nuts.

Hey, what if I put the undertail on? That like has the fender/plate eliminator on it. Most of the bikes that I see that have them on it, you can't see the plates anyways...Wonder if that'll work?

I guess I can ask the sheriff when I go visit my friend in jail tomorrow...

you're not going to get a freakin ticket for haveing a undertail, just make sure the plate is in reasonable view for a officer of law to see it.

I know I ain't gonna get a ticket for havin' the undertail. What I was saying was put the undertail on tomorrow and still ride the bike WITHOUT plates or temp tags...That was what I thought that you meant.

No high winds around here last night-today. I walked around the apartment complex perimeter (the buildings where I live at) and I didn't see it. I thought that also.
How about the high winds from your last ride and you just now noticed it.

I have lost a few paper tags over the years. It seems that after 80 mph the aren't likely to stay on. :cursin:

The dealer asked me why I would transfer a tag that only had a little more than a month left on it.
I told him, I didn't want a paper tag that would blow off the first time I hit 100+.

It was there when I parked the bike, I am pretty sure. The dealer that I bought the bike from puts it in plasic, mounts it on cardboard then bolts the thing to the holder through the cardboard. I don't believe that it would've blown off cause I've done 100+ on the bike and it stayed on during those.

I don't know. I gotta find out if I can ride it without the plates. If not, then I'm pullin' it into the apartment and parking the cage under the canopy.

Just make a new one with cardboard and black marker.
Write the number on it from your registration card.
That should work fine till you can get a new tag.
It will draw more attention to your bike. You may want to just park it till you get the new tag. You did say the old one was expired.

Yeah, but Colorado law states plates are good for 30days past expiration. After that it is supposed to come off the road.

HOWEVER...

When I was in Colorado, I saw a guy on a Gixxer riding with temporary tags that expired in like October of 2002!!

Here's an idea...why not just do things on the up and up...most of the people I know who whine about all the sh it that happens to them are usually trying to find ways around and beat "the system". Most of the time it blows up on them and they sound like you. As my membership in AARP approaches...I have discovered that the happiest I have been in my life was when I removed/avoided useless complications. Perhaps if you just did the right thing, instead of trying to be Mr. Slick you wouldn't be lying in bed at night crying about all the things that are happening to you...It is your life and it is what YOU make of it...

Hey, I was just trying to find a way to ride the bike until I got the actual plates which won't be until like the end of July. Just didn't want it sitting around collecting dust and dirt. Guess I'll go ask the police when I'm in jail tonight.
