Ok, so I was debating on getting the Acumen DG8 Gear Indicator and saw that I can get one for like $100-$125.

HOWEVER...

I recently came across this:

It does MUCH MUCH more than the DG8 does and you can plug it into a laptop/computer using a USB cable and then make changes and then just "resync" it to accept the changes. Oh, the Gear Indicator is INCLUDED in it too!

So I figure to save some cash, cause it'll like get rid of the ENTIRE guage cluser and everything, clean it up nice like. I can pick it up from the local stealer for liek $300 and $200 for install, calibration, gear indicator, well, the COMPLETE hook-up using a DYNO and like heat-shrinking connections.

What are your opinions.

Graff...get the gear indicator... you can get them for cheaper than $125 or whatever... Sime got one from Euro for about $93.

We've sold a couple of these in the past week, and it's a really cool product. I can tell you, though, that $200 for the install is a rip off. They are not that hard...Veypor has the full install instructions on their site. If you are even merely mechanically inclined, I don't think you'd need to have someone else install it. Check out their site instructions and see if it's something you're comfortable with doing yourself before you spend that kind of $$$ to have someone else do it for you.

Yeah these are sweet and are on order for my 4 bikes. They do a ton of sh!t and everything can be downloaded to laptop for bragging to your friends....:lol:

yes another person with too much money and not knowing what to do with it..
lacking restraint? Never seen someone who can ride 4 bikes simultaneously :rofl: Or are ya a pro at ghost riding?? :p:

If ya ever feel the need for a 5th, send it my way...I'll eventually need something bigger anyway. :whistle:

ahh that's cool and all but there is alot of things I don't like about it. One the tackiness of the zip ties strapping the wires to the swing arm. Two tapping into important factory wires like the ignition. Three what about if it gets wet?

It reminds me of back in the day when I bought a digital speedometer for my mountain bike peddling my @ss all over town to see how many miles and how fast I could go :lol: I picked that thing up at Target for like $40.00. It was the same exact thing just powered by a button battery, and it didn't measure the HP, Torque, 0-60, and 1/4 mile time. But its about the same concept idea just alot more features.

Why get something that tells you your speed when you already have a digital speedometer, trip, and odometer on the bike. Look in to this---->>>
If you want to just measure your G's, 1/4 mile, and 0-60 times get the Escort G-Timer. That thing is awesome! Escort makes the best radar detector in the world, I just got my new Escort Passport 8500 X50 radar detector which is the BEST in the world right now. I trust their G-Timer. Check it out.

I use a Veypor on my race bikes, and LOVE IT! :dthumb: I have the IR timer add-on, and have improved my times greatly. Yes, its a lot of money (try $770AS by the time I got a spare wiring harness and the IR kit), but if you're serious about improving performance, it's worth it.

Installation is a breeze, Do it yourself, or pay a mate a six-pack of beer to do it! $200 is crap!

Take a look at the Veypor website, and go to the forum. have a good look around, and you'll get a feel for what people are using them for (one guys got 1 on a Goldwing!).

But don't buy it just for a gear indicator. All it does is compare wheel speed to engine speed (requires calibration), so if your doing 30 MPH, then pull the clutch in and let the revs drop to idle, the unit will show top
gear!

P.S. I've seen two for sale on EBay, both in the UK, both for about 150 pound, around $260-$270 US.

Thanks. I wasn't gonna use it solely for a gear indicator. I like how it will 'clean up' the entire cluster-guage area. I want to eventually turn the R6 into a race bike so I figure that if would be used for that too. And $260-270 on eBay, well to get one new for me is only $299.99 so why not just buy new? Unless the ones on eBay are new, then well, it would depend on how much shipping was.

Graf, If you are going to buy one buy one new for warrenty issuses, in my cases sending something back for warrenty purposes to an Ebay seller has always been a P.I.T.A.!! The ebay seller doesn't want the titem back, and a lot of manufactures don't want to service the product if it was bought from ebay.
