Over leaning or something....

OK...I have been wanting to ask for a while and just kept forgetting to. When coming into a corner or nice long curve and sometimes an exit on or off ramp, I am looking through it like taught to to get through it and I can see myself riding to close to the inside curve and keep movinf closer to it unless I let off the throttle or not lean in to it as much.

What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to correct this???? :)

They are right, you are not taking the corner fast enough. I hate to tell people that, because you always want to do what is most comfortable for you. NEVER ride over your head. When I got my new 125 and took it to the track for the first time (these are the fastest cornering bikes out there), I went into turn 1 at VIR and went right over the curb. I was going waaaaaay to slow. I kept doing it, though, until I got more comfortable and less chicken S%#$! As I gradually braked less and gave her more gas, there was no more running over the curbs. As long as you are looking where you want to go, giving gas is the right thing to do. Also, if your suspension is set up correctly and all is good with the bike, you are better off on the gas through a turn. Being off the gas is a recipe for a low side! Just my .02. :)
Very ture my brother, Letting off the gas puts more stress on the front tire that it can handle. In cornering the back tire should be doing 60 to 70% of the work.If you over stress either tire it is not going to be fun. You should NEVER close the throttle in turn. It should stay cracked untill the rider feels safe to open it up. That is how you get faster. The faster you open the gas the faster laptimes.

Again never close the gas off in a turn. Keep it cracked open untill you feel safe getting on it.

Thanks for the recommendation on that. I had been a fan of UK mags since the major American ones didn't seem all that interesting to me, but at that price how can I go wrong? Those Brit mags are pricey :(
Yeah they are but there is a importer that will give you a good deal is you sign up for like a 2 year deal. I will get you the phone# when I get home from work...

Something must be wrong. I can take a similar corner at 5 MPH such as when behind a car, or at 50 MPH when it's clear, and both times I stay in the tiretrack. Here in Colorado, you have to ride in the tiretrack in the winter because of the gravel they throw down on curves.

Maybe you are coasting in the turn or pulling in the clutch. Maybe you are not tilting your head to keep the horizon level (cruiser riders often make this mistake). What about counter-steering? Our "survival instinct" wants us to turn the handlebar in the direction the bike is going instead of pushing on it the way we want to go. Or maybe you just need more practice on curves, such as a summer vacation out west. :thumbs:
Thanks everyone for all the insite. I will be hitting them harder and keeping the throttle open further for now on. I know I am not letting off the gas to much and never close it. Will work on it soon. Also thanks for the new mag i will be getting. :)
