I agree with you. I would never lower myself to panhandling no matter what. I am fortunate though that God has bestowed on me many blessings and the ability and talents to never have to worry about begging. However, just because we live in this manner we could never understand it unless we walked a mile in their shoes for sure. Some people might have true desperate times and need a little something to help them get by. It is always easy to say they can get an address, get a job, etc. when you are on the side of the fence with the green grass but think about it from their side for a minute - say they have no money, they are desolate, they have no ID, they have no birth certificate, they have no car, they have no job, they have no food, they have nothing - it takes alot to get an ID, get clothes for interviews to get a job, etc. etc. To us it is nothing because we are fortunate and have vast resources. Not everyone is like that. I do not condone lazy mfrs who just beg because they are too lazy to make a contribution. I am more playing devil's advocate and in my wife's words trying to have a little faith in mankind - meaning I believe there are some people out there that are truly needy. I think it is all the scammers, liars, cheats, lazy mfrs who give the truly needy a bad name and make us all say they should just get a job like it is as easy as waving a magic wand or something. We should all count our blessings and thank the good Lord everyday for everything that we have - our jobs, friends, family, houses, food, health, of course our bikes, etc. etc. We take WAY too much for granted..JK_DILLA said:If they make that much, then they can sock it away (because they have no expences other than food). Get themselves an address (even if its a PO Box) Get a job and contribute just like the rest of us. im not insensitive to the needs of my fellow man, but i am not in the buisness of helping those who dont help themselves. There are always options, unless you live in communist china.
I understand your point and this had never been so evident than when I was in South America (Brazil). My time there was an eye opener and made me that much more appreciative of what I have and can provide for my family. However, I can't tell the truly needy from the scammers so I don't support panhandling at all. I have no problem walking past anyone asking for a dollar, quarter, dime or penny. Also, I can say that I would do whatever I had to do, to keep from begging on the streets.Mudpuppy said:I agree with you. I would never lower myself to panhandling no matter what.
