People over 30 should be dead

People over 30 should be dead. Here's why ....................

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were
kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, or even maybe the early probably
shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles , doors or cabinets, ...
and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets.

(Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.)

As children, we would ride in cars with no seatbelts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode
down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes..
After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on .

No one was able to reach us all day.
NO CELL PHONES!!!!!
Unthinkable!

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound,
personal cell phones, personal computers , or Internet chat rooms.

We had friends! We went outside and found them. We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt .

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents?

We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and
ate worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside us forever.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or
rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who
didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and
were held back to repeat the same grade.
Horrors! Tests were not adjusted for any reason. Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law. Imagine that!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem
solvers and inventors, ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of
innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. And you're one of them! Congratulations!

Please pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good !!!!!

People under 30 are WIMPS

man, this one brings back memories..

Waaaaay back in the day, when I was 3yrs old, there were no laws on kids being in car seats or seat belts. My mom and I were driving along and I was standing up in the front seat. A 16 yr old ran through a stop sign and slammed into the passenger side of the car. At that moment, had my mom not thrown her arm over and pushed me back, I would have went throught the windshield. Scary thought. I am very glad to this day, they have strict laws about that.

This is the one that caught my eye too. Ever heard the Bill Cosby piece about go-carting? A true classic of his.

Kids today don't just get over it now. It is taken to court to sue the parents now. WTF Kids are going to be kids. Learn from it and move on. Grow up.
I don't know about y'all, but at my house we had wood burning sets. Do you remember the soldering Irons with different tips used to burn wood plaques like the paint by number sets. Also, in the summer, about noon after we drove whomever's mom crazy that was watching us, she would tell us to go play with our Red Ryder BB guns or get on our Honda Mini Trails and get lost. And one of my special favorites, the whole neighborhood would come over and play in LAWN DART tourneys!!! Just remember these things when some punk school administrator or wimp's mommie pulls the Politically BS on you. Stand up and tell them to push off!! Life is cruel and full of disappointments. You better learn that they DO keep score and it matters! That is why no one ever heard of Willy Craig. He played ball in the Cardinals minor leagues for 3 years. He never hit better than 210 in any year and I don't think he hit 30 homers in 3 years...I wonder why they aren't voting on him for the Hall???
Dude, I remember those woodburning sets, they were great, man I used to make all kinds of designs on the stuff I built back then..
I'm 30, that applies to the way I grew up. It's sad the way kids are being raised now. . you see kids riding bikes in their driveways with more pads than an NFL lineman. It's ridiculous.

:withstupi

I used to make "jumps" with boards and a log or bricks... whatever I could find. I never once wore a helmet or any gear on my bicycle. I crashed many times, but I always healed.
kids bounce. if you don't believe it, just drop one and see.   pads are for sissies. hahahahaha
ur fearless when ur a kid, no doubt..how many times did we try and climb a half dead tree, try and jump in a swimming pool, pick up snake that was clearly pissed off, try and pull the hair dryer in the bathtub with you...oh wait, I did all those things..

WOOT! Man I miss those things. If you get hit by a lawn dart, you deserved it. Like getting hit with a puck at a hockey game. Pay attention dammit :cursin:

No no no. First it was nerf balls. Then regular darts and then it went to lawn darts. Soon after I was having him hold up my targets as I used my bow for pratice and once as a human bowling pin. Now that was funny seeing me hit him with a bowling ball as he just stood there. What a dumb arse. :D
Some of the parents of Austin's friends scowl at the way I run the household. AND Because I am not up my children's a$$es every 5 seconds. I REFUSE to shelter my kids. I'm going to let them BE kids and if they don't like the way I raise my kids f--- them.

One of the things at the PTO Mothers Meeting was, 9/11. Boy, did they not like it when I told them I let Austin watch what was going on. And when he asked questions, I put the answers into terms that he would understand.

And I TOTALLY disagree with the whole. "video games and violence on TV makes kids do EVIL things." Bull$hit! I think the parents are at fault. It all begins with discipline. If the kids are not disciplined for their wrong doings, it will only get worse. BUT that's just my opinion. And the last time I checked, we WERE allowed to have our own individual sound-mind. LOL

It's funny how times really change. Hell, back in the day you could fart sideways and people would hoot and holler and think it's funny. You do that NOW and people cringe and tell you that you are going to hell. Life was so much simpler back then.
