Can someone explain to me the point in lowering a bike? I just haven't read much on it, but I don't know if it is much like lowering a car. But then I figure that a bike is low enough to the ground so why put it further with all the stuff in the road that you can hit? I mean, on a daily basis I see people going over speedbumps on an angle or going completely around them.

:screwy: Shorter people tend to lower the bike so they could touch the ground while on the bike. Usually when they're learning and not as confident yet with not touching the ground.

or its for drag racing, just keep the front down and the rear planted

My wife found the hard way that lowered all the way was to much.
She dropped it twice.
Once on a speed bump, the header drug and brought her to a complete stop.
She was on the ground before she knew what happened.
The other time was pulling into a gas station and caught the curb and dropped it.
That one scratched the bike all to h3ll.
Thank goodness for frame sliders.

I raised the bike back up to only 1 1/2 lower and its not an issue.

As fore the kick stand, I cut the plate off the bottom, cut 1 inch off the stand and welded the plate back on. worked great.
