My repack kit came in and I plan on stuffing it tonight. Anything i should know before I tackle this? Luckily my pipe doesn't have rivets so I don't need any of that. I think mine is ready to go out of the bag but i know some just come with the materials and you have to wrap it your self. Just wondering. TIA

My old Suzuki triple had four pipes that needed repacking. Since it was a two-stroke, I used a propane torch to burn off the carbon, wrapped the fiberglass around the baffle, and used stainless wire to wrap around the fiberglass. I used regular fiberglass, but I think they make special fiberglass for this now.

Not even sure if there is fiberglass in mine. The picture shows it in a bag so I'm hoping it's wrapped and ready but we'll see tonight I guess.

Masking tape. You wrap the packing around the baffle then use masking tape around the outside. Stuff everything back in the sleeve and put the end cap back on.

I did it yesterday and it was REAL easy. GYT-R has everything all wrapped and ready to go around the core. No tape, no nothing. The cover slipped back on with ease as well. However, I do have a lot of fiberglass splinters. The pipe is just as loud and it seems like the bike is more responsive now. Just throttle anyway. Haven't rode it yet. it was 114 outside yesterday.

Cold water as well - it causes your pores/skin to close/tighten up and will push the fiberglass out. Works after doing work in your attic as well.

I had about 10K on that packing. It was pretty dirty. Maybe it was cuz
I was in my garage and it was echoing.

Its going to get dirty. I bet if you take it out after only a few miles the new will look the same.

OK Micron wants $35 for the packing... where else are you suppose to order this stuff from?

Try a dealer or a bike shop. My dealer carried mine.

I called the only dealer type place (rec) that I order that stuff from and they said they have aftermarket stuff not but the Micron stuff. If I wanted the Micron stuff they would have to order from Micron. But heck I can do that...
