will the rear stand hold the bike upright with out the use of a front?
YES! You can use the rear to hold up the bike and a floor jack to get the front off the ground on the Rebel. Just be very careful. Or you can get a MC/ATV lift from Lowe's, Sears or where ever to lift the lill Rebel. I dont recommend trying this with the sportbikes.

BTW,
Its not recommended to use a front stand with out the rear in place first. Fine the other way around.

Almost all Swingarm sliders double a spools. Spools are not usually long enough to use as swingarm sliders though. I would not get straight spools, go with a swingarm slider. They're pretty standard, just make sure you get the right size / setup for your bike, Suzuki's use 8mm bolts, Kawi's use 10 mm. Shop the sites for information, then e-bay for an inexpensive set.
Good points!
