This is so unbelievable...you will have to read it for yourself...I just don't know what to say other than..."Only in Illinois can a State worker get drunk on State time, Crash a State car, Kill someone, and then get paid for the rest of his life for it"

William Barham, the former warden of the Shawnee Correctional Center who was convicted of reckless homicide and aggravated DUI in October 2001, has been awarded total permanent disability from injuries he sustained in the crash and will receive nearly $3,500 per month for the rest of his life.

According to the terms of the arbitration decision that was filed in Williamson County on Aug. 26, Barham, 52, will receive $863.45 per week for the rest of his life in permanent total disability benefits.

In addition, the state was ordered to reward Barham back pay of $863.45 per week for 158 weeks, which totals $136,425. The 158-week span covers the period from Oct. 15, 2000, the day after the fatal accident, to Oct. 27, 2003, the date that doctors say Barham achieved "maximum medical improvement."
