As I have mentioned before, I've been away for about 10 years.
I was looking at current prices for slip-ons. To my surprise, they cost as much as full systems from yesteryears. Egadz!
$500 slip-ons! $1k full systems! I shat myself....
at least the price for tyres hasn't changed.

Anyone know wazzup wit dat? Did the cost of making pipes increase? or is it because demand is up and supply remains the same?

It's a small market, so the manufacturers are squeezing what they can out of us...There are deals out there...just have to find them...99birdv6 got an awesome deal on his Termy when we were in Daytona for Biketoberfest...
I was wondering how he ended up with that on a Honda. Just not something you see often on this side of the pond.

I dont know where you are looking...

but ive seen micron, yoshimora,D&D, etc...slip-ons ranging from about 279.99-450.00 (if you want the carbon fiber/titanium of course it will go up in price)

and i have seen full systems ranging from 699-850 most of the time.

I can't justify a $600 exhaust swap on my Fazer for maybe 5hp. Oh ya, and then add a power commander. I don't ride my stock bike to it's full potential yet. When I do, I'm upgrading the whole darn bike not just the slip-ons

I had previously had a 750 Aero cruiser. I picked up new pipes for that for under $400. That was for nice double wall, fully chromed, full length pipes.

Imagine my surprise to find that just plain ol' slip-ons for my FZ6 started at over $600!!! I understand that some engineering comes into play to tune a muffler to a specific bike. But c'mon, unless they have some sort of super alien technology that I don't know about....a muffler consists of some sort of metal or carbon fiber, some baffles and maybe some fiber packing.

But, then again, just about everything for bikes is overpriced. As long as we keep buying, there's no reason for them to lower prices.

Your gonna be lucky to get 5 out of it but you also run the risk of losing hp. If you get PC then send it get dyno tuned them yeah 5 is reachable. The going rate for HP is $100 per 1hp on bike. To squeeze another 2-5 hp out of my 600rr just cost 300 bucks not is including the dyno tuning set for thursday. So if I spend 500 I hope to get 5hp out of it.:disapp:

I've sene some pretty good prices come from there... full SS 4:1 exhaust for like 515$ shipped.. u can still find new slip ones in the 200$ range if u dont have dual exhaust. For me the diff between dual slip ons and full 4:1 was so little that the dropped weight of the 4:1 was worth it. And find a good board that caters specifically to your bike, youll find ppl selling new and used systems cheap. I got mine cuz a guy bought it, it took so long to shp he bought another brand first... and just sold the Muzzys for a loss...find guys with too much money that do that and youll find a MUCH better deal.

HAHA!! Mine were Hard Krome too! And that price INCLUDED the jet kit!

Heck I had custom dual exhaust made for my truck for $300...

fatburg, you checked out the FZ6 group over at sportbikes.net? Biggest and most active group of FZ6'rs I've come across on the net.

Oh, and what the heck is that switch in your fairing in your pics??
