I have an oppurtunity to buy a used, (only about 6 miles on it) Tsibachi (sp?) chain to fit my 'busa. I have spoken with a couple of different 'Busa owners here, and they all have cautioned me about the weakness of the stock, factory installed chain. Has anybody had experience with this ? The only mod's I have planned for the bike are exhaust upgrade, full system, 4 into 1, K&N air filter with air box mod, and the installation of a TRE and PC III. Thank's, and I am all ... Ear's... :ffedback: :ffedback: :ffedback: :ffedback: :ffedback: :ffedback:

It is not now nor ever would be in my best interest to every put a used chain on a bike. In fact it usually becomes chain and sprockets when either need it. They just seem to conform to each other and as the pitch is wore more, the chain is stretching and vice versa. Also a chain does most of its stretching right away which would tell me it has already "conformed" to the sprocket set it was on. Not saying it wont work or it might not feel wrong if you place it on but it could be just enough out of pitch you cause premature wear on your sprockets over a "Good Deal". If you could swear to your self that in those "6"miles the bike was never pushed to provide more than 5 to 10 hp I would agree it migh be good. But if you know the rider would he have jumped on the throttle at all. ImO, and it is only an opinion, I wouldnt. :2cents:

Thank's for the Input....

EarlZach ! Anybody else have an opinion ????? Oh, BTW EarlZach, the chain, and the air filter, and the Yoshi exhaust I am buying from this individual are for sale because this individual pulled a squidly move and totaled his '02 Busa in his Apt. complex parking lot ! So, I am sure he went WOT just prior to removeing this chain !

Point well Taken...

Thank's Roach, I feel the sting of your wisdom ! LoL... So I gather that this chain would really only benefit someone who track day's their bike, or make's regular passes down the 'ole 1386 ? What does this chain retail for new ? Thank's in advance...

I hope I didnt come off harsh but the power a busa has and the traction from that huge tire I would bet the chain sustained some distortion that may not agree with your sprockets. It might be a good deal now but premature wear will cost you more than just a new chain. If your sprockets are still flat topped and not sharp I would say new chain. And let it conform to your sprockets. you cant shrink a chain back down. And if he put that kind of load on it you just dont need the additional wear. :2cents:

Good luck! With the other parts though. Get em' cheap! :dthumb:

Thank's EarlZach...

No, I didn't think that you were being harsh, I just figured you were sharing some hard earned expeirence, trying to save me from the school of hard knock's ! I do plan on getting a good deal on the parts, I am getting the complete Yosh system, with carbon muffler for $650, and the K&N filter for $30. I spoke with the shop that sold the exhaust, and they told me the guy paid $1300 dollars for the exhaust ! I looked the entire system over, and even though the guy totaled his bike, the carbon muffler came thru with no damage or scratch's ! The shop also sold him the chain, and said the guy paid about $180 for the chain ! I wonder if these prices are average ? I can't recall the model number of the exhaust, it is the stainless system with the carbon fiber muffler that has two outlets. Thank's...

The stock chain is just fine, if properly maintained and adjusted. We have a LOT of local wana-be drag guys with busas and have never once seen a stock chain fail. There's only so many manufacturers of motorcycle chains - Suzuki simply has one of them make theirs. Suzuki puts big chains on big bikes so liability lawsuits don't flood their doors.

As far as a replacement chain if yours is actually worn out (stretched, kinked, etc) ... $180 is riduculous. Most good 530 chains don't even MSRP at that. I'd have to look it upo but you're looking at about $115-$125 for a good 530 chain.

Thank's Roach...

Hey, when you get a chance, could you see what this brand of chain retails for ? I don't think I spelled the name right, but it sounds like "SuBachy" ? Also, if not asking too much, could you give me a price on the Yosh exhaust I described in an earlier post ? Thank's...

Tsubaki. It's a high-dollar chain that not a lot of places carry. They make industrial chains for manufacturing equipment, and claim their motorcycle chains are stronger than anything else made. Which is great ... except, you really don't need it :) If you had a big motor or a turbo and were over 200hp ... then yes, you'd want that. We don't sell them, but yes, if I had to guess they're going to be north of $150 at least.

As for the Yosh system ... that's a decent used price. New it's going to be about $850 - $900 with a carbon can. They make ok power, nothing to write home about, but more than stock. We really don't recommend yosh to anyone buying new as a TiForce (with stainless headers - not Ti) is going to be about the same price and make a lot more power.

Do you really need a chain?
I would only get a used one if I was broke down and broke.
Now if you get the chain you described for $50 or less, I would consider it if I needed it.

I got a OEM 530 chain I will seal you cheap with less than 500 break in miles and another with less than 1000 miles. I don't know why I keep this stuff.

Thank's Roach & Jeeps...

Roach, what kind of price do you guy's have on the Ti system ? Exactly how much power does the Ti system make over stock ? I might be interested in going with that instead of this Yosh setup, which I was mainly only interested in because of the Carbon can ! Jeeps, I was really only thinking of buying this chain to keep as a spare, as I intend to keep this bike for quite awhile, and I was thinking that I was getting a good deal on it to keep as a spare ! Thank's fella's...

From what is being said... as Jeeps said... unless you really need that chain...why would you be buying it? Also, as far as the Yosh... Yosh makes nice stuff and if you're getting it for a desent price why not go for it... but then again... in the end it's your money and your bike!

All Good points...

Thank's Gas, I'm just trying to decide & make an "Informed" decesion on these parts, as I was burned once in buying used parts, and I don't want to let it happen again ! I will more than likely go with the Yosh system, however, I would like to see what Roach has to say about his Ti system !

I don't know the numbers for that system on your bike but, Ti is advertising big numbers across the board for most applications. I'm not endorsing them, just relaying info. They seem to be the big dog on the block right now.

The other questions is though, Jeeps, is... Is that what he is looking for? Or does he just want some sound with a better lookin can?
