Last night me and some friends were hanging out at my house and my buddy got a call from a mutual friend. His son in California had been in a very serious motorcycle accident and has a 50/50 chance of living. The father, friend of mine, is back here in Michigan and his son is in California.

We were all pretty downed by this call and extremely concern for the family. We all know the father, mother, and son. So now the father is trying to get things in order to fly out to Cali for all of this.

About 45 minutes pass, and the phone rings again. He had died from his injuries. We don't know anymore. Trying not to press on the info at this time.

It is very sad. His son, age 26, is a Humvee mechanic for the military. He is based out the San Diego area. He is married and has a son and 2 step daughters from his wife's previous relationship.

The father is in Cali now dealing with all of this. We are waiting to hear on the funeral arrangements so we can send some flowers and whatever.

So I have a few questions...

Any suggestions on a flower company for the area? Will something like 1800flowerpro.com work over there?

Also, I need help locating a news article or somin on this. I tried a bit but I thought I would call upon all my TWF'ers for help. Anybody here from that area?

Thanks, but I don't really need any condolences for its not I that is the greatest morning. It is just sad to see a young guy die over something so stupid. Plus to see my friend have to bury his son. You aren't suppose to have to bury your kid.

I really really want to find a news article.

Yeah, the gym I work out at (which the father owns) has a card out and taking donations for a flower for the funeral, and to wire some money to the mother and father to help with the travel expenses.

My wife and I, are doing the same between our close group of friends that know them. So we'll send flowers and probably a western union wire.

But anyway, I will spend some more time tomorrow looking for a article but if anybody else has any ideas or time to find one, I would be greatly appriciated.

I couldn't find too much, I'm sure you got everything I did. I found this on the NCTimes.com site http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2005/09/19/military/91805202522.txt
Not sure it's what you are looking for, not too much info there.

By: Wire Reports -

JULIAN ---- An active-duty Marine died Sunday after his motorcycle crashed on State Route 78, authorities said.

The victim, whose name was not released Sunday because family members had not been notified, lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown to the ground, a Medical Examiner's Office investigator said. He died at the scene.

I just reread it and I'm not sure that one is right, it says he died at the scene. That would be just too much of a coincidence two marines died on motorcyles in the san diego area though.
:iagree: but, it is the news reporting. They don't always get every thing just right.

I'll keep a look out Gas. As far as flowers, if you know where the funeral will be you can use the old Google Local and find a florist pretty easy. Give em a call and tell them exactly what you are wanting.

Gas Man...sorry to hear about your friend's loss. I'm a Safety Rep for my unit...I might be able to get something useful for you through some contacts I have. The bad thing is this poor guy was a Marine, and we don't exactly cross services due to the circumstances, but I'll get what I can when it comes out. What exactly are you looking for?

 your right, I was looking at the date at the top of the page. I wasn't thinking the details were lining up quite right. :sorry: about that.

Have you found out anymore about the accident and what happened? I'll look around some more today when I get a chance.

Talismen... just looking for some articles. Something I can print and save for the family and/or post at the gym that the father owns. Everybody there is very concerned.

Fat... we haven't heard anything from him. Everybody deals with this stuff differently. Either he is just that busy; wants to keep it to himself and the family; or is just internalizing it all, which isn't good. One of us is going to call today and get info...
