I knew it was windy today, but didn't quite know how windy until I got on the turnpike riding 75mph with 40mph gusts of crosswinds. It gets you puckered up a little bit, even on this hog. My CBR600 used to be all over the place, that was a real treat, but it's still nerve racking.

Any tips other than just get low and hang on?

I've had that before... planned a trip on the bike with the wife.. (back then the ex500) big wind gusts.... I swear I was leaning into the wind so far that I was riding on a angle....

OTehr than cradling the tank of the bike and getting as low as possible to become more areodynamic, I dont know what else to do. Even then sometimes that doesnt help the situation out.

:iagree: riding in the wind...well...blows. :disapp: (sorry couldnt help it)

I don't mind the wind as long as it's constant. It's just the gusts that move the bike all over the place. Gets you puckered up pretty good.

The gusts aren't going to knock you over, it just concerns me if you have to make some sort of evasive maneuver. That could get interesting.

I've been stuck in dust storms in AZ. Wind, low visibility and flying debris... not a good scenario. All you can do is lean into the wind, but not too much so when it dies down you're not on the ground. :yikes:

We get these Chinook winds coming off the mountains and yesterday, gusts reached 84MPH. Blew over a couple tractor-trailers traveling on I-25. Luckily, I was riding west into the wind, but it still blows you around. The full body plastic on my CBR makes cross-winds even worse. The only way around is to listen to the weather reports.
