I got invited to do the Rolling Thunder tour from Denver to Washington DC for Memorial day. I said no. It's people I hardly know, mostly Harleys, and 2,000 miles of straight interstate (one-way).

I almost always ride by myself, so I'm not used to a large group. Plus, I like to stop every hour and relieve myself or sightsee. Anybody have anything good to say about a group tour?

Can't speak to the group tour, but I can tell you Interstates, and particularly straight Interstates, stink.

I've done large "cruises" with cars and even with communication it can be a task to keep everyone together; bikes would be much worse.

All I can say after doing some group rides...

Riding with a few of your buddies will beat riding in a huge group of strangers anyday....

Some folks don't take too kindly to friendly ribbing about the double line cross that almost got them smacked :)

especially having to wait for those lane-hogging boat anchors to catch up!
