In the build up of the final round of the MotoGP World Championship, held last week in Valencia, Valentino Rossi swapped bikes to test a very special version of the new Yamaha YZR-R6.
Back in September, Yamaha unveiled its new YZR-R6 at the Intermot Motorshow in Munich, Germany. Joining the new-generation R6 for 2005 is an exclusive new limited edition version featuring radical colours and eye-catching graphics.
This unique new bodywork design was developed in close association with Rossi, who joined the factory’s MotoGP effort this year and brought them their first World Championship in 12 years. Yamaha asked Valentino to sit with his design team and develop a colour scheme with a completely free mind.
The result of his study is a radical yellow and black design featuring the white ‘speed blocks’ featured on Yamaha’s race bikes in the early 80’s. Also incorporated within the overall image are a number of his ‘personal’ styling icons such as the sun (on the bright yellow side), the moon (on the serious dark side) and his famous number 46.
Yamaha will produce a limited series of 500 numbered YZR-R46. They will be available from Yamaha dealers in early April ’05.
I have the pics of it at home I found on the net, I'll load them up sometime this evening.
Anybody else seen this ride ? I tried doing a google search on it, but came up empty for some reason this time.
