I've been to Newton, MA (1st safest) and Springfield, MA (19th most dangerous) and I agree. Newton is very peaceful and Springfield is an easy place to get in a fight or die. There was this alley way next to a bar that was completely empty and there was this fat irish dude standing around the entrance with these two decent looking broads. i started to walk down there and he stopped me. Long story short...I'm pretty sure the Irish mob was out that night. He threatened to beat my head in. So yeah, i didn't go down the alley.

I believe it.... I grew up right over the hill from those cities...... Irvine and Mission Viejo are quite nice (and yes, very safe-feeling and family oriented).

I was surprised that Columbia, SC wasn't on the most dangerous list... Sheesh, I was more scared in some areas of that city than I EVER was in Atlanta.
