... Winter Storm Warning In Effect From 10 Am Edt This Morning To 6 Pm Edt Sunday...

Snow Will Continue Right On Through The Day Sunday. The Snow Will Be Heavy At Times. Storm Total Snowfall Accumulations Will Range From 8 To 12 Inches By Sunday Afternoon.

In Addition... North Winds Will Gust To 35 Mph. These Winds Will Combine With Snowfall To Create Very Poor Visibilities And Near Whiteout Conditions At Times. The Winds And Heavy Snowfall May Also Cause Some Trees That Already Have Their Leaves On Them To Break.

... Snow Advisory In Effect From 6 PM This Evening To 6 PM EDT Sunday...

The National Weather Service In Greenville-Spartanburg Has Issued A Snow Advisory... Which Is In Effect From 6 PM This Evening To 6 PM EDT Sunday.

Rain Showers Will Gradually Mix Over To Snow Showers At The Higher Elevations Through The Afternoon. By Evening Accumulating Snowfall Is Expected To Develop At Elevations Above 4000 Feet. Warm Ground Temperatures Will Initially Inhibit Accumulating Snow In The Lower Mountain Valleys... But Freezing Temperatures Overnight Will Finally Permit Light Accumulations Even In Some Valley Locations By Sunday.

Snowfall Accumulations Of 1 To 3 Inches Are Expected From Avery County To Madison County... With The Highest Totals At Elevations Above 4000 Feet And Near The Tennessee Line. Snowfall Accumulations Will Likely Reach 1 To 2 Inches Across The Smokies By Sunday... And Accumulations Around An Inch Are Possible From Weaverville To Waynesville To Cullowhee. The Snow Should Retreat To The Immediate Tennessee Border Sunday... And Then Taper Off To Flurries Across The Northern Mountains By Sunday Evening.

A Snow Advisory Means That Periods Of Snow Will Cause Primarily Travel Difficulties. Be Prepared For Snow Covered Roads And Limited Visibilities... And Use Caution While Driving.
