Ok, i dont know if it is a major thing or not. BUT, sometimes when i am out riding i can be coming up to a stop light and begin to down shift i will kick down and the gear change lever will go down but not kick into the lower gear. To get it into the lower gear i have to kick down and let the clutch out, then pull the clutch back in and do it again. It wont let me just continue to shift with one pull of the clutch. It dosent do this all the time but enough to make me wonder. So my question is is this something that is easily correctable or what????

2005 Yamaha R6

Thanks

I have had that happen to me on my gixxer but I wasn't pushing it down hard enough and it just popped back and out. try making sure you are putting it fully down and in gear. If it keeps up, may need to take it to the shop.

I also have a problem with this as well on my SV. Something else I noticed when I got my bike back from the shop is that the shifting motions are now in reverse. Shift down a gear you have to press up and shift up a gear you have to press down on the lever. The dealer says that it is how it is set up on race bikes, is that true and should I have them reverse it back to normal?

The only thing they touched on the bike as far as transmission and gearing is the shift lever, it was scratched so they took if off and I guess replaced it backwards.

I don't think it was on purpose, I dropped my bike a few months back and they did all the work for me. I don't think the guy realized what he did when he replaced the shift lever after taking off the original. It is the same place I bought the bike. I have actually gotten use to the setup like it is, I think I might keep it that way. It feels more natural and easier than the other way. Only thing is that it might be hanging it up when shifting out of neutral at a red light, because sometimes it won't shift into gear into first, but will shift into second easily.
