I've narrowed my choice on a new helmet to either a Shoei X-Eleven or Suomy Spec 1R extreme. Between those two does anyone have any experience or preference. I know someone is inevitably going to say pick the one that fits best but I think they both fit me fine. So….what do ya’ll think the Shoei or the Suomy? Oh yeah, my last question is which one supposedly fits a person with a long oval head better?

I don't remember which way it is... but each of them will fit differently. One of them is for round heads and the other is for longer heads... just can't remember which...

It's odd because I know Arai markets their helmets as round (RX7), medium round oval (Quantum), and long oval (Signet), but I've tried on all three before and felt minor differences. So I was wondering if Shoei or Suomy market their helmets as fitting a particulart type of head better.

i have the suomy extreme and i love it. i would never buy another helmet after having this one. It has great air flow and is very light. I've heard good things about the shoei too though. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Get which ever one you thinks looks better.

They both seem to be good helmets....so that being said, go for the cheaper (in price) helmet...when I went helmet shopping, I tried on all makes and models available: Arai, Shoei, KBC, Suomy, and HJC, the Shoei RF-1000 fit me best. The Suomy was a nice fit too, but I had my eye on the Shoei.

I don't know about the Shoei but while I love the Suomy Extreme. It's light weight and the graphic is "extremely" cool. The few things I don't like about this helmet is that it's noisy. Changing the face field is a PITA process and the tab can be broken quite easily. In addition, a replacement face shield cost $75> the last time I check :yikes: If you don't fiddle around with the face shield like I do, I think you'll love the Suomy for it's lightweight, coolness factor, and protection as long as it really fit your head.

Btw, make sure you try the helmet on for at least 15 mins. Every helmet will feel as though they fit like a glove the first time you put them on for the 1st 5 minutes. It isn't until a while they start to conform to your head. If I am paying hundreds of dollar for a helmet, I'm really going to make sure that it's comfortable in the long run.
