I would find it very usefull. And i dont doubt it will be abused. I dont know how well it works in CA but id say deffinately give it a trial run in other states. If riders here are too immature to do it properly then we'll lose it i suppose but atleast try it. :2cents:

The problem with legalizing it is there are too many ignorant cagers who wouldn't get the word. Hell, they don't look around enough before changing lanes as it is, can you imagine if lane splitting suddenly became legal? No doubt that MC deaths would rise rapidly because of the idiot cagers talking on their cellphones and drifting across the center lane into a bike that was lane splitting.

I admit I do it...and I think it should be legal. obviously its not the safest thing to do, and yes you need to be extremely careful with it. but there's no real way to regulate it..either u do it or u dont. I try not to do it too often..but damn, out on the highway, when i have the itch..i just cant help it!

I do it car or bike.. Driving on the shoulders when necessary should be legal as well.. It should be illegal to drive like 30 under the gd speed limit... Either that or stay out of my way..
people like you r probably why it is not legal

I've split lanes at a traffic signal when the other vehicles are stopped. I would not try it on a highway where they could cut me off.
:dthumb: i agree

Those who don't do, have no idea!! :screwy:

I do it all the time, in the city, on the h/w...at 30 or 175... it don't matter! It is a usefull tool in heavy traffic, just ripping down the h/w with Twisty, or running from the popo!!

However, I know many people/riders that should NEVER attempt it! They would become road pizza VERY quickly!!

:disapp: wrong person to get a 'tude with

I don't see a problem with it if people do it "responsibly" however that is probably far fetched for some people out there so I don't see it happening anytime soon.

i dont think spliting lanes at highway speeds and above is what the law is all about...(i think they just classify that as driving to endanger, but hey i like using cars as pilons at 100 mph+ speed just like the next guy) but legal/illegal lane splitting is riding between cars in heavy traffick situations....and around where i live, people in cars in traffic will squeeze ya just so you cant get by.I guess they figure if their in traffic, everyone should be....

how well you can (or think you can) ride, has nothing to do with whether or not your gonna get turned into pizza lane splitting...its what the people in the cars are going to do to you...when a car cuts u off and your lane splitting, dont really have a lot of room to do much about it.. :nono:

What most people in cars don't get, is that our bikes aren't designed to sit in all that traffic. The problem is that you get these Harley arseholes doin like 50 up the sholder in a traffic jam! That doesn't help the cause much!!

the bikes are pretty much ok, but it does suck for the rider sitting in traffic with a helmet and leathers on when its a 90 degree day and not moving :cursin: ....hmm, now i remember why i bought the vette with a/c

they just heat up like a biotch but they are def made to handle just about anything you can do to them and just keep running. i seen a test wehre they took the oil out a biek and ran it wide open and it melted the pipe like off and they just filled it bakc up and it ran fine. but i do agree i get worried when i see the temp start moving up very quick.
