I've been on hiatus from riding the SVS to work since it seems I always have an errand to run or have too much to carry to and from work. That, and the never-ending threat of thunderstorms in the summer.

This morning I figured, I'll pack light and take the bike.

First thing, I back it up out of the garage and the front brake feels awful. Not exactly what you want to feel, in fact a little scary.

I get the bike out, check the tire pressure and both tires are about 2-4 lbs LOW. Fine, I fire up the compressor and get the tires up to the proper psi. By now it's sprinkling a little, but not enough to be concerned. I can ride in sprinkles.

I go inside to get my stuff, come out and now actual rain drops are falling. :cursin: By now I'm 15 minutes late for work after messing with my tires and brakes. So, I took my streak of bad luck as a sign and hauled the bike into the garage and scrubbed todays launch.

I de-geared (riding gear), moved my crap (phone, desk keys etc) from the back back to the truck and came in as a cager.

 You probably made the right move. Once you start getting the signs from up above.

Now me...as soon as I drove the car to work, the sun would be shining and it would be a beautiful day.

I'm with ya Shan... I get that all the time... the old saying...

"If it's not meant to be don't force it!"

I'm also in the same/similar boat as far as riding. I have a work truck that I have to take home all the time due to leaving right from home quite often and being on call. So during this time... I don't get to ride to work... it's good for not spending my $$$ on gas but bad for not getting in miles on the 9R.

But at the end of the day when you come home after working 12 hours ++ you look at the bike just sitting in the garage and it looks lonely... maybe I need to start sleeping with it like this guy...

Shan, you probably made the right choice. I haven't been rideing lately because of the heat, and I've been busy with work for the past 2 weeks.

Gas if you slept with it although it may be a little hard to start it definately wouldn't get stolen.. of course your wife may not be too happy about the bike grease on her 300 count sheets and the fact she has no way to sleep - of course you could always say I have your sleeping spot right here beotch - IN MY PANTS.. lol.. you could always spoon the bike and have her cradling the wall and spooning you from the backside..

Shan - I feel your pain.. It seems like when I don't have errands, meetings to go to that require massive paperwork or kids to drive around it rains and when I don't it is nice.. damnit jim i am a sanitation engineering assistant's assistant not a metrologist.. i change urinal cakes and mop floors not pontificate or prognosticate the weather.. mfp.. Good luck with the brakes.. Make sure you get them right as they are VERY important.. i have rode bikes and drove cars and trucks with no brakes and it is no fun.. this riding season has been terrible for the weather - july wasn't too bad and august seems to threaten but not do too much - so maybe it is getting better at least up here in the mitten.. but the beginning of summer really sucked.. damn is summer almost over? shiiit football season is right around the corner - Bee I might have to break out the snow shovel soon - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This summer has been terrible for riding for me. Dammit. If ain't one thing its the motherF'n other. First I break my foot...keeps me down for a month...in the heart of riding season here in PA. Then the DAY I get back on it I loose the oil plug.

Thankfully...I finally got the parts to fix the Gix. Time to ride again!

So, today it's sunny. It was even a little cool this morning. Naturally I have an appt after work and had to take the truck.
Did you take up on my idea about the re-tapping the threads in the oil pan?? What ever happend with that?

It was nice and sunny here this morning as well, and a little cool. I couldn't ride this morning because I had my laptop, and a Hilti laser measureing device with me. I also have my traffic court today for the citation I got last month...so I had to take the truck..

I'm so glad you all are going thru this with me... cause I feel like I'm the only dumb a*$ that doesn't get to ride the bike that much. All day when I'm at work or driving to work I see all these people riding... I think... :wtf: do they not have jobs or what?

I must stop posting in this thread cause I'm getting sad... no I'm getting  ... hell I just want to ride!

I actually went with a new pan from ron ayers.com. It was pretty cheap so I went with the sure fix. Still haven't put it on though...that's next weeks project...

Not sure what gasket you are talking about... but I would try some high temp gasket maker with the old gasket...for a temp fix.

No kidding. Man, other than the 20 miles I did before the plug loss I haven't done a solid ride since June. Not riding sucks.
