Blow out are uncommon if you keep a check on tire pressure and a visual of the ware to look for slick spots and punctures. Flats on the other hand do happen. If you check before you ride then you will know.
If it happens while you are ridding you can fell it at the start once you know your bike and pay attention to what its doing.
I have been looking for a reason to post up this information. It seems to be a useful tool to have for those that are seriously Tire (pressure) conscious.
However, for some reason I really can't see a real purpose for normal everyday bike riding… but for Track Days, Racing and Cars… this could be very useful… what do you think…

Smart Tire

SmarTire acts as an early warning device by actively monitoring your motorcycle’s tire pressure and temperature. The instant SmarTire senses a problem, you'll be alerted and able to take precautions.

I think its a great idea but, don't look for one on any of my bikes. You may find one on my wife's car one day soon. (a women that drove 12 miles on a flat 205/45/17 and swore she didn't know it was flat.
These thing or the equivalent are becoming more popular and even standard equipment on higher end cars.
Race teams have been using this for a while and it will (is) trickling down to the independent teams.

ya the vettes have sensors in the tires to let u know pressure in all 4, nice little option...

and as far as the wives are concerned.....if they can drive 12 miles on a flat tire, which my wife probably would do too... do you really think there gonna look at a gauge on the dash for their tires...I know mine wouldnt.... :skep:

To teach her that when a car or bike starts to act strange or different from the norm. Check it out or get it checked out.
That $200+ tire could have been patched if she hadn't cut the sides from driving it flat.

ppl in pa and nothern areas, last tuesday or monday wehn we had snow my gf leaves work early so she can get home. now we all know that there was like 1-2 inches on the road and i live in the middle of now where so there is about 3 on the road. she takes her parents explorer to work and on the way home in the snow she did a circle and went straight off the road. so i had to leave work early and get here. when i got there i say, did you put it in 4 wheel to try and get it unstuck and see just looked at me. im lik WTF didnt you have it in 4x4 at all on the way home and she says no. now wtf i biotch all the time about my jeep in the snow in 2 wheel cause rear wheel drive sucks and i knwo she knows that an exploreer is rear wheel. and y the f would you not put it in 4x4 if the tires are spinning and ur stuck. i could not figure this out for the life of me what the point of taking the explorer to work in the snow if ur not gonna use 4x4 when ehre seabring front wheel drive would have done her better.

Yeah, my wife isn't like that... she loves cars and bikes... she really wants a bike but it just doesn't fit with everything else we want to get... I'm not made of money like Twisty...

My wifes ride is a '05 Chevy Equinox v-6 AWD... our first SUV and we both really like it!

i mean she likes watching bikes an stuff like that but she is just like afraid of them casue she has never actually driven an atv, or dirt biek especially. she has never really been on 2 wheels since a bycicle wehn she was like 10. lol

a banshee is a powerfull atv to start on but they cruise along at a slow speed, just dont give it too much gas all at once.
