okay i got back from like a 10 20 min ride and i got home turned the bike off and then took the key out and smoke came out of the starter!???!!!!??

what the problem???

i also hgave trouble getting the key to turn on!!

You mean turning the key or starting the bike? If its the actual turning of the key then no, it has absolutely nothing to do with the starter.

then when i came home from a ride i took the key out and smoke followed my fingers and was coming out of the key whole

well the thing ur taling about is the key whole, ignition. a starter is what cranks the bike over to start it, a stator is a think that looks like wire wraped around stuff that is magnetic that makes electricity or somethign or another. almost like an altinator in a car.

The igniton (what you stick your key into) is a round cylinder thing about 2-3 inches long or so... find the bottom of it, where the wires connect, and see if they are nice and sealed tight or if they have been messed with. The only way smoke could be comin from there would be a short in those wires, and I dont think it has anything to do with turning your key. Try squirting wd40 or graphite down in the key slot to fix that.

Starter = the actual thing that cranks over the engine
Stator = bike version of a alternator...which re-charges your battery as you drive/ride.
Ingintion = the actual thing that you stick your key into and turn to activate the power system of the vechicle.

Smoking ignition.... I would say a short somewhere in the ignition... next time it does it... smell the smoke... try to get a idea if it smells like burnt electrical or not... of coarse you have to know what that smells like in the first place...

But see Bull... your confusion on the starter/stator thing is just a small reason why we tell you to take it slow...you don't know jack about bikes... you will... I have no doubt but just not yet... first the fix o flat and now this... :nonod:

i do know the basics like oil change and i can even do some minor engine work..... i changed the piston wrings all by my self lol.... i know i got a lot to learn but the bottom line is im learning it!!

also i tryed smelling it but it dont smell at all????? and today it dident do it??? idk whats up

Was it wet (or water in driveway) when you were ridding and saw the smoke afterwards?
If so it may have just been steam from water on the motor coming up when you stopped.
Get some W-D40 and spray in the key hole. This will help that problem.
