was out in the garage this afternoon, started up the Kat, since I havent winterized it yet. still trying to put that off hoping for 1 last good day before the weather starts suckin even more. But anywho, new neighbors were moving in some of thier stuff today, and the guy I guess heard my kat in my garage, and took a break and walked over. He's got a 883 sportster, 2001. He's like..nice bike, what is it ? (now mind u I dont have any stock katana stickers on it anymore) but still, I was thinking, what self respecting bike rider cant tell a kat when they see one. he's like, is that an older gsxr ?, I said, Nope! And politely told him its a 2000 Kat ! he was like, really ? i would have never guessed it, but it looks sweet as hell. I was surprised alittle bit, but we talked for a few minutes about bikes, etc.

Then he said, hey in the spring, we should hook up and ride together! I think I almost fainted dead away from shock..but was like, sure, we'll hit the twisties !

Just alittle post thanksgiving story to share as I sit here at work..

aw...he was probably trying to be polite, then he went home and told his wife about the rice burner next door. Wait and see if he has anyone come over to ride with him, or if he tags along one afternoon when you get to take a last blast for the year. Sometimes you can get one of THEM to see the light and convert...but don't hold your breath. But you will have to wait for him at the stop signs...Did you get him to sign on here yet??? We need someone to torturize since Jetski won't play anymore

atleast he was cordial about it...but maybe i just caught him on a good day, and he was really scopin out the place !! good thing it got a rot/doberman to look after the kat. ! :lol:

but really though, if he wants to ride, i'll ride with him, no worries..

If one wants a light, inexpensive, sporty HD, you pretty much have to get the sportster. So you have to give him some credit. Plus, they sell a ton of hop-up equipment. Since Harleys are so easy to work on, maybe you can help him install some. I'd recommend the big bore kit first, followed by cams, exhaust, carb, and ignition.

Hey atleast your neighbor has a real bike, my neighbor came over one day so proud. Just picked up a 250cc (not sure on that) scooter and said we should ride sometime...I was like...ummm, sure

It hurt me to watch it, but the Vance & Hines Harley Davidson won the 2004 NHRA Pro Stock Bike championship at Pomona Raceway. The Pro Stock Bike championship was the first by a Harley Davidson-supported NHRA drag-racing effort and the first for a motorcycle powered by a V-Twin engine. Watching the Harley shut down all the Suzuki's and Kawasaki's was painful. If someone buys a Harley they probably have enough money to buy many of the expensive mods to make it faster.

Most likely they do, just compare the prices of just the bikes. But the thing is, it's the older crowd that rides the HD, they've had their fun with speed, now they wanna just sit back and cruise and enjoy the ride.
