I know I could probably ask this somewhere else but i don't fel like doing a search...plus i haven't posted a thread for a while. Would you consider a guy who rides in shorts, t-shirt, shoes, gloves, and a helmet a squid? Even if he is out just to enjoy riding and not speeding, splitting, doing wheelies or anything like that? Basically, do you guys base the squidality on the fact of what he wears or how he rides or both? Or is it a case by case basis. I don't wear such things but I do cruise in a t-shirt if I'm runnin errands or what ever sometimes. Just curious.

Squidly is as Squidly does... credit him for riding responsibly in terms of not being an arse in traffic, and endangering himself and others.... but no credit for anything else.. so basically you'll have your head intacted, and ur hands will be ok, but you have no skin left anywhere else.. :nonod:

I can kind of see the t-shirt when it's really hot but I still don't like it. As for shorts....no way...NEVER. I will never see that as being acceptable. Just my :2cents: but I'd rather sweat a little and have my skin left on my body and not be in the hospital forever.

Maybe not a squid, but definitely not smart. If he goes down once, he won't be wearing just a shirt anymore. That is, if he has any skin left in the first place.
:withstupi: I have to agree w/ ya. Every time I see it I cringe. i see 'em a lot too!

I agree. Then again, I've also seen people do the extreme opposite and not consider themselves or be considered a squid cause they've been riding for years so it's kinda a double-standard. :2cents:

:iagree: Even a mesh jacket with pads is infinitely better for having something between your skin and the road if you go down at ANY speed.

My personal gauge is based on a combination of gear/riding style:

for example:
a) No gear; sane riding = not bright, but not necessarily squid
b) No gear; wheelies through traffic, passing on one wheel = SQUID
c) Full gear; wheelies through traffic, passing on one wheel = SQUID
d) Full gear, sane riding = not bright, not necessarily squid

Just some general combos to show where my mind sits on the matter, not all inclusive ;) Do we all do squidly things now and then? Probably. Do we make it a habit? I don't *think* so. When things go egg-shaped, it's your habits and reflexes that are going to make or break you. Do what you want, but keep that in mind.
