With some of todays bikes and their plastics, you have to drill to put some sliders on there. Would you buy a bike that had the holes already in the plastics w/ factory sliders installed? For the bikes that do or do not require holes to be drilled. I figure it would be easier and cleaner for the factory to do it. I know i would definately go for it. Would you buy it if it was standard and couln't buy one w/ out?

Yeah I'd go for that...cause I wouldn't own one w/o the frame sliders. However, could there be problems with different sized sliders?

Kind of off subject but...
My fiancée just bought a Ninja 250, and there are NO frame sliders commercially made for the littlest Ninja. A few people have managed to rig some to work.

You would think a motorcycle aimed at new riders would have them standard or at least available. What is the deal Kawasaki????:wbs:

Maybe it is so they can make money off new turn signals and new fairing panels?

Heck I have a naked bike, if it tips over I might bend a brake lever or something...

Most sliders are around the same width. The length wouldn't really matter. You'd probably have to take the slider off to get the fairing off if it's too long. I know when I first started I didn't know what they were, and if the dealer told me what it was, I'd say hell yeah.

I wasn't really refering to naked bikes but they can also be pushed pretty hard and would need them.

I know but there are some that aren't... like Vortex for example...

As far as the Ninja 250... its not really the fault of Kaw... more of the aftermarket world. If there isn't going to be big money in it for places like LP then why would they spend the time and $$ to do the R&D???!!!!

I still like to blame the manufactures...:bonk:

It has something to do with the backbone frame. Maybe I'll get her some training wheels?

I think I'd be happy with just a pre-existing hole!... I think it's weird they haven't thought of it already... IMO they're missing out on accesory$$ as all they have to do is change the mold for the fairings a little... and offer a simple slider... :2cents:

My CBR was one of the first to come from the factory with frame sliders. The round gray cup sticks out from the fairing and is a replaceable plastic cup that bolts to the engine. The horizontal red strip between the radiator exhaust openings also sticks out from the fairing and has a metal slider underneath that is bolted to the frame.

Well in the "cowl slider" thread DL posted...

Well, my bike has been down twice alrerady and the cowl hasn't cracked. The sliders would be fairly cheap. I mean, most of us have frame sliders, but the plastixcs still get damaged. Yes, I know they're there to protect the frame mostly. Spend like 30 bucks on something that might help isn't taking too much of a risk. The exhaust sliders would be real cool, but the extra "layers" would mean that the pipe has less to travel to come in contact w/ the ground and might mess up soething up front, like the header or something. I don't know. I just got my CRG roll-a-click levers in and I'm gonna go test fit 'em at the shop.
DING DING DING!!!

We have a winner! This guy thought of the idea and why the manufacture doesn't use it such ideas as cowl sliders or for this thread... stock frame sliders!!!

If when you drop your bike and you don't have sliders on it. You mess up plastics. Then you have to go back to the dealer (wherever it is) and order new plastics from that same manufacture. :damn:

So why would the manufacture want to eliminate that great source of income? And we all know that drops go hand in hand with these young guys riding the rockets!
