A 953cc nekkid bike for $8499 list? :eek: Sounds appealing to me, I'm just not sure I like the stlying. It's certainly the popular direction of recent bike design, but I'm not sure if I like it. I DO Like the tail lights, nice touch.

I think its a pretty sweet ride. Im not into the naked bikes as much, but its still pretty cool! Would look even better once they get rid of that shovel!

It looks alright but as Matt said it, I am not into the naked bikes as well. But everyone has there own choices.

That pic must be modded or somethign because I believe they come with a 4 into 2 exhaust... at least the 2003s did. I love the 2003 black with red touches that my step-dad has. He just bought it this summer and I was lucky enough to snag it one day for a ride. The seat would take some getting use to as I'm accustomed to my couch! That bike is what has me so excited about the Z750 though. Since I just learned to ride in July, I think the 750 will be plenty of power for to play around with.

No, I think that is a aftermarket exhaust...it definately has a name on the pipe.

I'm with you guys. I usually don't like the naked bikes. But that is pretty nice lookin. The tail light is from the 6RR and 636's. Just as is the entire tail section.

I really like the rims. The colored spokes with the alum. rings....very sweet lookin!! Plus the price!! Like DAMN!

What's the specs on it??????

You'll have to give us ur own indepth review of the Z you recently got! always cool to hear real-world opinions on bikes! :thumbs:

That's more of what I was lookin for. But N4S' showed the dry weight that I also wanted to know.

The question is...Is the extra hp & less weight worth the extra $2k. :skep: to step up to the 10R?????

I love the styling of the Z1000. I think they're great looking...

They handle really nicely, and have MUCH better real-world ergos than a SS race replica bike... If you actually only ride on the street with a machine, I just don't see the attraction of SS bikes at all. It makes no sense to me...

Anyway, the only gripe people seem to have about the Z1000 is its slightly twitchy handling (that's partially do to the massive amount of leverage you get with a wide handlebar) and its so-so suspension. Typical Kawi suspension components...

Get one, send the forks off to Lindemann and have a field day!

Wet weight is just under 500 lbs.

Your question has no answer given the dichotomy of art and design spawned by the likes of machines such as the Z1000 and ZX-10R. The latter is not a step up from the former; it's a step over. The ZX-10R costs more because it's different.

One either wants a naked bike, or not.

One either wants a race bike, or not.

Which one is for you? Ask your gut! :D

For the most part, yes...

It's hard to define what its direct competition is. Just naked street bikes? Then you could say it goes against the SV1000S and the FZ1.

Factory street fighters? Then it's against the Buells (I'd DEFINITELY take the Z1000 over a Firebolt or Lightning ANY day), the Monsters, and the Tuono. The Z1000 is definitely the value bike out of those and fits the bill quite well...

The October ish of Cycle World had a 13-bike shootout in which the Z1000 was included. Unfortunately, they decided to leave out the SV1000 and the Bandit 1200.

Anyhow, in handling, the Z1000 came in fourth behind the MZ, Tuono and the Brutale and just ahead of the fifth place XB12S. The MZ did their handling course in 43.13 seconds, the Z1000 in 44.18. FZ1: 44.72.

They said the Z1000 "is fairly well planted and has neutral steering."

In the meantime, Road Racing World had what is described as a glowing article in its latest issue about the Z. I haven't read it, but one of the long-time denizens of Z1000.net said it made him proud to own one.

how can u have a true comparo if those 2 were let out, or wasnt it just a naked bike shootout?
