I can't really answer that one for ya, JK...but you should swing over to http://www.svrider.com/ and ask around there. You're likely to get at least a few useful hits there.
:iagree: that's where I sold 85% of my sv parts! I always ran the 120/60/17.

Well i don't have an SV but I do have a 120/60. The 60 series causes the bike to kinda dip (for lack of better terms) into turns more while the 70 series smooths all that out. I'm going to the 70 once I get new rubber. The front will have to be lowered like 8mm to compensate for the change.

That's what I don't get... it you want more turn in... go to a 110/60 if you want less turn in... why not just go to a 130/60...

You might also try getting a hold of Laura or Roach over at Speedwerks...Something tells me they *might* know a thing or two about this specific issue:wink:

The 120/60 to 120/70 has been more popular. You have more rubber on the sides and you can lean more with more rubber contacting the ground.
More rubber down... :skep:

But you don't have more rubber on the ground with taller side walls...

You just have more rubber to buckle under the pressure...

 maybe somebody else will clarify...

I understand where you are trying to get at JK. I know when I had the metzler front tire the freakin curve on the tire just dropped off flat which cause me to have hardly any curve to ride on in a tight turn. That all changed when I went with the Pirelli Diablo I had a nice smooth rounded edge to ride on in a tight turn.
I'm not so sure a 70 series would fix the problem! The tire will flex a little more, but I think it all depends on the way the curve of the tire is shaped.

thanks for the replys

im working towards making my bike a track bike. i try to modify in that direction. And there are no race tires made in 120/60/17, just 120/70/17. So im looking to start running the 70's on the street to have the rest of the bike set up accordingly. so id like to know what to expect along with the change.

Not sure. I'll have to check. i seen it on a how-to on another forum and I think he said 8. You could be right though. I did have a chance to ride an '05 R6 and you could definately tell the difference. It felt real nice.

The sidewalls aren't taller. The middle of the tire is taller.
Yes it is... the 120 is the size in mm of the tread... then its 60 (or 70) % of that width for the side wall then the tire rating and rim size

See here!

So it's taller and wider. The wider it is the more rubber contact in turns. I know it says 120 for both, but it is taller. it'd have to be because With an MC tire if you just go wider then the curve is gonna suffer and there goes your turning. Plus I've seen them in person.
