Just wondering if anyone has ever had a litre bike and took a step down to a 750 or something smaller. Did you have any regrets? i know that 600's are better because you can hammer the throttle coming out of turns whereas a 1000 you gotta finese(sp) it. So have any of you guys done it?

I went from a gsxr1100 monster with nos to a gsxr750 and hated it.....once you have a litre bike its hard to go smaller on the street...on the track its not a problem, but for street riding i missed the hell out of the bigger bike... :2cents:

I've actually known quite a few people who have downsized and been very happy. The power that the 600s and 750s are putting out these days is impressive. There really isn't much need for a litre bike, but a lot of people enjoy them.

Personally, for each of my track bikes and for my street bike I have downsized. For the street I started on a GS500, now have an NSR250. For the track, I started on an FZR400, went to an Aprilia RS250, and now I'm at a TZ125. My bike makes 38 hp on a good day. However, I am not unhappy with the loss of horsepower. Why? Because the bike is super light (160 lbs with fuel), is easy to throw around, and corners like nothing else on this planet. It's just an absolute hoot to ride and outcorners the bigger bikes. It all depends on what you are looking to get out of your bike and what you are wanting to do with it as to whether downgrading will be a good or bad choice for you.

I wish I had the cojones to ride a bigger bike, but I enjoy the features the little ones give me, and I'm not looking to give that up for a bigger, heavier bike. :)

I haven't and would step down. I love the liter bikes... for the street they just rock. For the track, if I was going to go all the time, I wouldn't want anything alrger than a 600...

First bike was a V65 Magna, Not a sport bike but a fast bike Lot of power and great to ride every day, Next bike was a CBR 600 Loved first gear but hated to have to use the clutch all day. 10 years later Found my way back on a 1000. I love the power, I am getting in sync with it and how it feels about me and my riding style. It is getting very comfortable to ride. It started off a little heavy to throw around but I'm letting the bike to the walking now. If I push it into a turn it lays right down and takes me through it. It sure dont ride as heavy as it did when I first got it. But like I said, I have been out of the game for a while. But The feeling is comming back and as I get to know her, the better she treats me..
