Heard this on the radio on the way to work. Apparently this guy played the mega millions lotta in NY. He filed for bankruptcy, and had 83 cents in his checking account at the time. The day he filed, he bought 1 mega millions lottery ticket, and won the biggest payout to 1 single person, in NY lotto history, 149 MILLION !!!!!!!!!!!

its nice to see someone who actually needs the money to win it for once, instead of the peeps that play and win, and are already well to do. :bash:

His credit may be tainted for the next 10 years, but who cares, he can buy whatever he wants in cash now!!

Yep, mainly because they don't know how to manage their money. That's how they got broke in the first place. The ones that don't go broke fast are probably the ones that just got themselves in a bind because of lost job, high medical bills, etc.

If we were to take all of the world's wealth and split it up evenly among every person, the vast majority of poor would become poor again, and the vast majority of rich would become rich again. It all comes down to the fact that most poor don't know how to manage money, and most rich do.

And since the divorce article says that his wife had previously given him the boot because of his bad financial habits, I'd say she wants her money so that he can't blow it as well. She'll possibly still be well off long after he's broke.
