right now i have the good ol' black leather bra on my bike. i have been told by a few that it is a rather dated look though. i too am looking into the adhesive kind, so i would definately benefit from others opinions as well. the tank slappers that were metioned in the above response have been recommended to me by numerous members here, so i think they are a pretty safe bet at least performance wise, if that is the direction you want to go. personally, i want more than just clear protection, i want something with a little visual appeal too. but basically, any protection is better than no protection, i guess.

I put a Tankslapper kit on a couple weeks ago. I got the 3M tank set, not the full bike protection kit. The material is nice & thick, and flexible. The adhesive is really mild, kind of like a post-it note. It peels off without harming the paint and without leaving any residue. It's virtually invisible. People don't even know it's on there until I tell them.

A tank bag makes a practical tank protector. My RKA tank bag is always on my tank. With the sheepskin lining on the bottom of the bag, my 15-year-old tank looks brand new. Plus, you can carry most everything and can lean on it.
