...the names of family members, sports teams, and pets. The most common password of all? ADMIN Last year, the most common password was PASSWORD. The change likely occurred because a lot of new equipment, including some PDAs and all Linksys, D-Link, and Netgear broadband and Wi-Fi routers are now shipped with a default password of ADMIN.

How many of us are using pswrds like this??

Not me. I randomly select a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. I vary capital letters as well, and use 8 characters when possible. What I do it this: randomly hit a key, then write down the letter, number or symbol. I do that until I've used 8 characters. Then I put the password in my safe. For important things, I change passwords monthly. Something like this site, I won't bother and will just leave that password alone. If someone hacks this account (good luck with the randomness), then they can type whatever the hell they want.

Shame Shame. The best combinations are of letters and numbers of things that don't directly relate to you. family members, teams, pets, etc., can be easily hacked by any person smart enough to do so. They throw dictionary's first, then sequences of numbers. Don't use passwords like that for any accounts that are extremely sensitive. :)

Just a head's up for you. :)

i think that probably applies more often that not!!
LMAO....Yeah there are times when it could definitely APPLY! I try to pick unique PWs. Something that has nothing to do with me OR my personality. And if I do, I try to change the spelling and do funky things to the word, so that only *I* would be able to know it.

Mine are random and I have about 20 of them. . it'll take me 10 minutes to log into somewhere at times b/c I have no clue which one I used. lol

I know the feeling on that one. I forget which one I have used and go through all of them on some programs to find the right one. 10 mins later...bingo.

I just use whatever my login name is as my password. It makes it easy. Then I don't have to remember anything, just my login but I keep that to 2 different ones so it's easy too. I'm not worried about it. Haven't had any problems yet.
