I went riding on friday with a few guys. One had a 2000 mille. pretty sweet! We have a loop out here in Vegas that is 13 miles long and one way so you can pass without worry. You really get to push the bike through it's sharp to mellow turns. So needless to say I was pushing it hard. Well when I came to a stop at the end of it my bike stalled. It took a few minutes to start and stay running after that. I planned on going through the loop again but since this happened I decided to head home. Saturday I decided to put the rear seat and pegs on so me and the girl could go riding. I started it up and let it run until it warmed up good. Well it started to run real shaky. The RPM needle was bouncing too much for me at idle. I rode it to the shop and luckily it still ran like crap so they could diagnose it. Usually there should be an error code that will pop up on the guage but nothing did. What ever it is it should be covered under my extended warrenty. I haven't got a verdict yet but I will follow up.

Warranties are a good thing, in this case at least. Fortunately, you and the mechanic both heard the problem at the same time, so at least he knows what you heard/told him.

Yeah. it sucks when you bring something in for something and it doesn't do it. I know the service manager pretty goo so he should take care of me.

My quote is just a play on a phrase from work...

At my work they like to replace manned jobs with automation... and it works great till it goes bad...then it goes bad REALLY BAD!

So "automation gone wrong...all wrong"

That's very possible. It does have 15K miles now. That's why I gots the warranty. Good thing I bought the extended cuz the manufacturers ended a month ago.

thats about time for a check up anyway, right? Killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Lets hope that its not too extensive and you get your bike back soon.

It can be extensive as it has to be. It's all free so they could take a month replacing the motor for all I care.

true, but do you want it to be extensive and in the shop for a month? Thats where I was going with that. I agree if it has to take a month to get it done right, then so be it.

It'll suck but I'm not gonna be pissed cuz it's beyond my control.

That's what I thought so I replaced it before I took it to the shop. They gave me one for free at my last service but since I didn't need it yet I just kept it in the garage. That's what I thought too so I replaced it and got the same thing. Maybe it's the stator or something. It could be a ****load of things.

Warranties are indeed a good thing.... for customers! They SUCK for the mechanics working on them cuz they don't pay jack for labor or diagnosis :nonod: But I do hope they're able to get your bike fixed without a prob! It's a very good thing that it acted up for you both.... I hate getting cars with "intermittent" problems that I can never get to duplicate, it makes it extremely hard to diagnose :cursin:

I was thinking about buying the extended warranty for mine since the factory 1 year was up on Oct. 17th, but decided not to since I hadn't had a single problem with it and there was still nothing wrong with it. Sure enough 3 weeks later my CCT starts rattling... go figure, LOL. Oh well not a big deal, I'll just replace it myself. I can't complain though, 34k miles and this is the first repair it's ever needed (plus it's a common thing anyways).

I'd always get the extended warrenty on a bike. They should all come with a 3 year anyway, so that just gets it to where it should be! :2cents:

I don't usually bother with them. I seldom keep a bike long enough for it to be used. However, I thought it to be a wise choice with my last purchase knowing the pricey repair bills that go along with it.

It started to run like crap. Real shaky at idle. i took it to the shop and they were thinkin the throttle bodies weren't synced anymore (15K miles). They said they were still going to do more diagnostics. Well, it's been in the shop for over a week now and the lastes word is that they don't know what's wrong and they have to call Yamaha on Tuesday. Hopefully it's serious and I'll need a new motor or something. Everything is covered under waranty still. I'm pissed though cuz I'm driving to Texas this weekend and wish I could take it w/ me but I don't think it'll be fixed. i myself am leaning towards bad gass but what do i know?
That sounds crappy. But trust me... it won't be done. I hate that dealers take so long to do anything! When I take my truck to the Ford dealer or the wife's SUV to the chevy dealer... they rarely have it for longer than 1 day. Every once in a while, I've had other cars at the dealer for like 3-4 days but that was it. Heck most of the time, they finish it that day if you get it there early!
