Here is something I found today that should interest all Americans...Remember, the Founding Fathers included the 2nd Amendment just in case the Bureaucrats, Parties, Politicians and PACs forget or infringe upon, or try to deny the other Amendments.

Second Amendment Secures Individual Right

A recent memorandum opinion for the U.S. Attorney General states: "For the foregoing reasons, we conclude that the Second Amendment secures an individual right to keep and to bear arms. [O]ur examination of the original meaning of the Amendment provides extensive reasons to conclude that the Second Amendment secures an individual right, and no persuasive basis for either the collective-right or quasi-collective-right views. [T]he broader history of the Anglo-American right of individuals to have and use arms, from England`s Revolution of 1688-1689 to the ratification of the Second Amendment a hundred years later, leads to the same conclusion. Finally, the first hundred years of interpretations of the Amendment, and especially the commentaries and case law in the pre-Civil War period closest to the Amendment`s ratification, confirm what the text and history of the Second Amendment require."

This Attorney General is saying that...The Supreme Court has not ruled on the issue and has been ducking the issue since 1800. There are elements in our society and within our government who believe the 2nd amendment only confers the right to keep and bear arms to members of the Armed Forces, Federal, State and Local Law enforcement and to Federal and State "Militias" such as the Guard and Reserve. They believe the 2nd Amendment says unless Shan, or Matt or Bumblebee or anyone is a member of one of these military or Paramilitary groups, you do not have the individual right to own or possess a firearm. This is what is referred to as the "Collective Rights" The Supreme Court has been ducking this issue since 1800, and each A.G. has been allowed to enact and enforce policies according to his/her personal point of view on the "Collective" issue. That is why it is encouraging to see this point of view published. A change of Administration could change this view.

I think the NRA is too strong of a lobby for anything to dramatically change.

I agree with others, as long as the NRA is around, which is just an absolutely HUGE organization with political ties in every administration, the right to bear arms will never be comprised in any severe way. :2cents:

I'm sick of hearing about people trying to take away our second amendment or trying to find loop holes to change it. BS BS BS. IT's gotten so bad that some schools are leaving it out when they teach the amendments. It's crap. It's our constitutional right and it will be for as long as I'm on this earth. I don't fear losing the 2nd...like all have said, the NRA is too strong. God bless em.
