Thinking of putting one on, over the winter months since I cant ride that often, and will have some time to put on some extras like a new can, iginition advancer, steering damper, and a jet kit I hope. Any ideas on cost? best ones? ones to stay away from? how hard are they to self install, or is it better to let a pro do it? I've been checking on the net, but not quite sure what's good/bad..etc.

The DynoJet kit is a good one and not to pricey. For your bike it will only cost about 130.00 for the kit and if you know any one that can install it for you or help it will save you some money. Also you need to know what stage you plan on taking it to. There are a few stages to choose from and depends on how much you are wanting to do to your bike as well. Let me know and I can tell you which one is best for you to get and have done. :)

Im looking at a stage 1 now, most likely..i know someone who can help me with it, but want to try it on my own if its not too hard..how much HP do you actually gain with them, and how much does it vary through the different stages? I know alittle bit about them, but not that much so Im doing my research.

With the diff part you will be working with I would say have someone help you with it that knows about the main jet,float bowl and the hidden fuel screw on the bottom. With the different stages you will find about 5-15% increase in power. Stage 1 will give about 5% where Stage 3 about 15% in power. If you want some serious HP, add stage 7 for drag and add 80 more HP to the bike, as long as you add modifications like hotter cams, head work, and ignition timing. LOL To much money for me to do. :)

im not looking to spend all that, or go drag racing..i just wanna put on a stage 1 or 2..just to add alittle bit extra snot to it...wanna make sure I do it right though. Im really looking forward to an ignition advancer, especially with Kats known to be abit tempermental when cold starting them.

Hehehe I thought I would just add the last part. Stage 1 or 2 will be best for you even 3 would be nice. If your going to get the new pipe, I would have it all put on at the same time. They will Dyno it for you and with the new pipe and kit you will see a nice increase in power. :)

Yes. I put a full Yosh and Stage 1 on at first and then about 7 months later went to Stage 3 and saw a nice change. It was worth it to me. :)

In the May, 2001 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News, they tested four jet kits from three manufacturers. Eight-page article summed up: The Yoshimura MJN was disappointing. The Dynojet Stage 1 had the best drivability/throttle response. The Factory Race felt stronger in comparison to the others. The Factory Configuration 10 was most inexpensive, and added horses in the midrange. The F4 they did the tests on pulled it's first power wheelie with this kit.

So if you want most HP, get the Factory Race. If you want best driveability, get the Dynojet Stage 1. Unless it is a track bike, I would go with Dynojet. By the way, they also got good power from a Leo Vinci slip-on. Most others they tested made no difference or made less power.

I'm running a stage 2 with a new muffler on ZX-9R and got about a 15% increase in power. Really noticable power increase...

hhmm 15%!! thats pretty significant...wonder how much I can expect on my 750..i would imagine its somewhat universal as far as how much gain depending on what stage I get...nice!! can't wait !! :cheers:

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Is your bike running close to stoich right now? Have you stuck it on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor?

There generally are gains to be had, but a little more research will probably net you more of the results you are looking for...

Well, stock my bike is suppose to have about 135 at the crank. According to Kaw and some mag that I can't remember. I had it dynoed on a dynojet last year after the jetting, pipe, and K&N...it put down 136 at the rear wheel. :thumbs: Not too bad I don't think...it's no GSXR 1000 or ZX-10R but I likey!! :banana:

Not bad for a poor '02 ZX-9R... :cool:

Nothing compared to the new 10R's 163 at the rear... :drool:

On my 00 GSXR750 I am getting 131 at the rear tire. It makes me happy. Thinking of trading to get the 1000. Now that will be some serious power. :bike: :hyper:

One thing to remember about any review like this is that the results are specific to that bike on that dyno (or track) on that day with those weather conditions. On that note, I actually had some good results with the MJN, but I would never recommend it for the street. It really is a true "race only" jet kit and doesn't work very well unless you are at 10/10ths all of the time. In addition, I almost always have good luck with Factory brand products and recommend them whenever I can (yes, I do sell their stuff). I recommend using their street kits unless you are doing serious racing. The street kits sacrifice a small amount of peak power to gain driveability, which is huge on the street (and for beginners on the track).

Jet Kit...

Hey Everybody... :hi:

I just had the Jet Kit done to my bike, along with a K&N air filter installation. I'm not sure what Brand or Stage, however I will talk to the Mech. who did the work and get back here with the answers. I also had a complete service done, and changed all my fluids to Synthetic. The total cost, Parts and Labor was $350. Did I get screwed, or does this seem like a fair price ? I would like to say up front that I believe it to be a fair price, especially after riding it home :D In it's current state, my Kat has a Yoshi slip on, 1 tooth smaller countershaft sprocket, and now the aforementioned Jet Kit with K&N filter and synthetic fluids. Does anyone have an estimate on what my HP would be in this tune ? Thank's...
