How do you know if your tire gauge is accurate or not? I have 3 different ones at home (1 digital, 2 of the little silver pen type) and all 3 give me a different reading...I'm not horribly happy about that since I like to check my air every 2 days or so. I'd like to KNOW what my tire pressure is, for some odd reason :skep:

I would like to believe your gauges are only off a pound or two max. Now remember Your tire pressure Hot is always going to higher than cold. So Pump it up when cold. Next if they are all within a pound or two. STOP useing three, just pick one and believe in it. At least it will always be right with its self.
Carpenters dont like to use two tape measures and women dont like two scales. Just go with one. It will take the confusion out of it. I hate inconsistancies too but the best way to avoid it is do without it. If it can be done. :dthumb:

Earlzach: I think it's more than a couple pounds...I was doing the check cold. Digital gauge (the one I tend to use) showed 31.5 on the front and 35 on the rear. First pen gauge showed 15 front/20 rear and second pen showed 25 front/30 rear. At this point I'm tempted to just believe the digital as I haven't had any problems from underinflation that I've been able to identify when using it.

Twisty: Ok, smartguy What would you consider a quality gauge?

Go with the digital and throw out the other 2.

Use it on your car... if you are getting the same type of reading... and the tire looks ok... then you know the pen style are junk!

find someone or someplace that has a nice expensive gauge and check out yours to that one...i would think the digital gauge should be close...close enough for street use anyways....

I like the digital guages as well. I have a corvette analog guage.. does that classify as a quality guage Twisty? Oh yeah and it's gold :lol:

Like someone posted above, use only one, and pay attention to your tires (not that street tires are really all that sensative to tire pressure changes as long as you're close). It will always be accurate in relation to itself.

Unless you buy a really nice guage and never jar it, they are never going to be accurate.

Or, buy one of those nice liquid filled gauges and leave it in your trailer over the winter. :lol:

I have a gauge in each of my vechicles and use that gauge for that vechicle... digital one is in the bike!
