Hi all, I'm going to need some new tires on my 919 really quick. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recomendations? I have a set of Metzler Sportec M-1's on now. I got less than 4000 miles out of the rear. I dont think I ride aggressivly enough to need tires these soft. Does anyone recomend a decent set of sport touring tires (emphasis on sport). Thanks in advance !

Those are the ones I'm leaning toward. A friend of mine has them on his busa. We both got new tires about week apart, and his are still looking good.:dthumb:

I'm also looking at the new Metzler Roadtec Z6

You start pushing that SV hard enough and you wont like'em either. Dunlop makes some great tires as do most all manufactures. I just know first hand that you can get great mileage and performance form a Pilot Sport. There are more touring oriented tires out there. I just don't know of them for I never ues'em.

Yeah I am going to end up with some Michelin pilots when I start riding harder. I just thought I would get some mileage out of my dunlops while I am still learning.

:dthumb: I wouldn't change them till they need it either. I usually leave stock tires on my bikes for the break-in miles. It helps keep my balls in check. Now days. You get pretty good tires stock on Supersport bikes.

I agree The Power is one of the best tires out now. Just cant get allot of mileage from them.
He has stated he wants a tire with mileage capabilities over performance because he is not an aggressive rider.

Wait wait, I didn't say I don't ride aggresively. It's just the Sportec M1's I have are very soft tires, very close to track tires actually. Probably too soft for my weekend rides on back road twisties. It isn't for a lack of trying but I've never broken them free coming out of a turn, once they warm up they stick like crazy glue. I'm just looking to get more than three months worth of use out of a set of good tires. I've seen guys get many miles out of a set of the Michelins. But that new Metzeler Z6 looks like a great tire too, hence my dellema...

I got the M1's too. They've lasted pretty long for me and i push 'em every chance I get. Got about a 1/4 of an inch of chicken strip left on both sides.

And lately I've done a lot of two up riding which is what I figure has worn the rear out. But now that the girlfriend as a bike (ninja 250), and I can get rid of my "ballast", right now its a toss up between another set of M1s or a set of the Michelins...
