I looked at like the MotoGP track layouts and they are pretty nice. The one in Japan is the hardest I hear, anyone confirm that they heard the same?

What this thread is about is actually this: does anyone know the like rules/stipulations on track design for MotoGP, AMA and the other motorcycle races? I'm just asking cause I like to 'doodle' with drawings so I wanted to design some track layouts. Figured it would occupy my time seeing as how I have much of it.

and what would you be planning on doing with your doodles of tracks Graf? Submitting them in for ideas? I work with all engineers and CAD draftsman they don't care about anyone's ideas except the people on the committee or have a high relation to the project. just fyi.

There typically are no rules to building a track, mostly it is designer preference. Tracks are designed based on what the engineer and builder want to see and who they cater to, ie. nascar vs. formula 1. You can design a track based on how fast you want the bikes to do. Do you want a horsepower shootout with long straights, drafting wars etc. or do you want a torque track with short straights, lots of turns etc. You achieve this through mutiple things, such as straight away lengths, corner radius, changing radius turns, off camber and on camber turns, chicanes ( sorry about the spelling), banked turns, the use of concrete or assphault, width of the track.
Japan has a tough track most likely because they built it to trick the rider. For example; You can have a long left hand carosell, which looks inviting and fast. If you take that turn and make it off camber, the bike won't have as much traction because gravity make the tires want to fall off and slide. If you do that and then make it a decreasing radius turn, the rider can shoot in too fast and then find that he will over shoot the exit and run off. The looks the easy, but in reality the only thing easy to do in the turn is crash. The track takes skill.
The thing is to figure out what kind of track you want it to be and then design it to do what you want. And the engineer who thinks that it doesn't matter what people thinks needs to think again. Riders dictate the track design, not the mathemation. Engineers who can ACAD are just the guys who do what they are told. They're not the ones riding it. No disrepect.

I would say Japan has the toughest track from playing Moto GP

:lols: :iagree:

The Suzuka circuit sucks...

Then there is Laguna Seca (but thats in rerference to Gran Turismo 1,2,3,4) I would assume thats one of the hardest tracks. I've always had some trouble with that track.

No, just like drawing. So I figured that if I was to do so I could at least take into consideration some of their standards they use as far as length, turns, hills, etc. Sheesh, can't I do anything when I'm bored besides :whore: ?
