CJD was out at the local dealer the other day, and was talking to one of the reps there about shields for helmets. He mentioned about new transition type shields. Similar the transition lenses you find in eye glasses these days.

Anybody have one of these? How do they work ? Sounds like a good idea to me, the best of both worlds!

Not a full shield, but I posted about something like that over here http://www.twowheelforum.com/showpost.php?p=20486&postcount=17. They are light sensitive strips that adhere to your shield. I haven't found anyone that has tried them yet though.

yeah I remember that and also the gadget that kahuna was pimpin there too...but im wondering about actually buying the shield straight from the factory to work like a transistion lens. Would have to be pretty cool I would imagine.

I bet it would be too expensive... faceshields are too vulnerable to getting big scratches right across the eye-path... I wouldn;t want to pay >$80 or so for a shield just to have a rock make it pretty much useless in the first week... Now if they bring it out at round $30, thats a different story!

It might not be a bad idea, but I don't know if the cost would be worth it.
