WOULD IT BE A WASTE OF $ FOR ME TO GET MY POWER COMMANDER TUNED ON A DYNO OR JUST SETTLE WITH THE MAP THE DEALER HAS FOR MY BIKE WITH WHATEVER MODS I HAVE? I HAD A SLIP ON AND A K&N INSTALLED AND I REALLY CAN'T FEAL A DIFFERENCE. THE TOP SPEED HASN'T CHANGED AND THE ACCELERATION FEELS THE SAME. :help:

It's never a waste of money to have it custom mapped, however, if you don't feel any differences in your bike, then no need to spend the extra $$$. Custom tuning is really for when you can notice a difference somewhere...for example, sluggish at a certain point, etc, or when you install a full system. Also, with just a slip on, a PC really won't make that much of a difference. It definitely helps and keeps your bike from running too lean, but it's not a requirement to have. The map that they probably gave you is a general map for that pipe and easily downloadable off of dynojet's site.

Thanks For The Advice. I Think I'll Just Go Down To Dynojet R&d Facility And Have Them Map It For Me Just To Make Sure The Right One Is In There. Their Facility Is Literaly Down The Street From Me. They Said They'd Do It For Free So Why Not?

Im sure they can show some improvement on the numbers, but I dont think you will fell any real world difference.
On my GSXR it made a world of difference after I sold the bolt on pipe and replaced with a full system. I was always disappointed with the $$$ I spent on the PCIII until then. :twfrox:

I Can't Be As Upset About You For What You Paid For A Pciii. I Got A K&n A Slip On And The Pciii For 25 Bucks Brand New. I Spilled My Bike And Got All That From My Insurance Claim. I Got All That Instead Of The Stock Pipe Which Costs $825 So I Can't Complain. It's Like 200 Bones To Tune It So I'll Just Have Dynojet Map It For Free.

Dynojet will tune the bike for FREE??? Damn, sounds like I may want to take a road trip to Vegas next year. Sure, it will cost me money getting there, but I'll be in Vegas where I can quickly win it back plus some. :lol:

If you get a PDA and download the power commend software to it. You can tune your self like you were on dyno. It is pretty slick. You plug the pda in to you PC and take you bike for a spin down the highway getting up into the RPms. It will get you close but not dead on like a real dyno will.

The PDA thing only works on older PDAs and PCIII with serial - they do not have a version of the software for newer PDAs with USB (which you would need to connect to a PCIIIusb). I suppose you could strap a laptop to your tank though ...Gas Man said:YO TWISTY!!!

And beyond that ... no offense, but it's about as usefull as tuning a set of carbs by the "Seat of your pants". (Actually less, because with a power commander, you can download a map for your pipe that's going to at least put you on the dance floor. With carbs ... you start with a baseline jetting, hope it at least fires up and runs, then go from there). You'd have to make drastic changes in the fuel mapping to even feel the difference while riding, and still wouldn't know if it's even close to what you could be getting when you "felt" it was right.

PDA-dyno makes a connector and software that tells Horsepower and the effects of changing you mapping per RPM range. It is highly effective software that Pro AMA teams using to find better air/mixs @ the track where standard dynos are not located. It also works with PCIII/usb and the Yosh box. In some cases this more effective than standard dynos because this software works in the real world that dyno does not have the airflow factors that we do when we are on the track.
