TWF Gap Rally
***Ive Updated this post since it was originally put up***
I know we had a thread about this a couple months ago, but we've added a ton of new members since then, and things have changed alot so I thought I'd put something up here as a sticky so we can reference it and keep all the info in the same place.
Right now the initial thoughts were to try and plan on going down to the gap the same time as WOS goes down May 28 - June 4th, to maximize the participation of as many as possible...However these days are not set in stone as of yet as far as TWF goes. So its open to suggestions to see if these dates work for everyone or not.
Be sure to post in here as soon as possible so we can get the dates officially set to give everybody time, since many of our places of employment allow us to put in for vacation near the beginning of the new year. We'll do our best to get everybody down there that we can.
Again, this thread is to gage the interest and see how many of us can attend. Shan will have the final say of course as to when we go down, but this will give us a good starting point to go by

so how close are these places to where we'll be staying, and also how close are these hotels to the actual dragon itself..?
The first part of the question is so the wife won't get mad that he's too close to strip clubs. So be sure to answer with, "they're VERY far away". ok, so we'll officially chill with the date until WOS figures out what they are doing about MP's wedding, correct ? as well as trying to get our own forum squared away too.
No per the Prez of WOS and the Almighty 5 Power Twins that went last year the date WILL NOT change. So count on that week and count me out, that is unless I get my wedding changed or I kick the beotch to the curb. Neither one is likely right now. I will probably just hook up with my Nashville connection and hit the gap that way. That would be cool. Yeah this sucks. I was so looking forward to going. Name 50 weeks out of 52 and I could go but no it has to be "that" week. It just won't be the same going with a different crew - it will be cool but WTF. No one even discussed this, obviously Shan had zero input. yeah, we're trying to get down there when you guys go down so we can have a bigger turnout..but we'll see how it goes..thats why I made this thread, to see if those dates worked for everybody or not... but its not 100% set in stone yet.. Shan's been away for bit, but he'll be back soon. if we cant get the dates worked out with wos & twf for some reason..then you can come down with us on a different date MP

so far we have a few members who cant make it down for this date.. so remember put up in here as early possible if u can or cant go ... this date isnt set in stone for TWF yet..lets try to get as many as possible to go down there.

I am not going to be able to make it to the Gap at the begining of the ride. My sons birthday is June 1st. I can not miss that for the world. That would break his little heart and mine. I will be able to make it down there after this for the 2nd to the morning of the 4th.

I would like to go, my only problem with commiting right now is that it's far away and I just started a new job, won't have vacation time by then. I will probably do like last time and just tell them that I need the time off w/o pay and ride over there.

My commitment will have to be last minute. With a pregnant wife and an 18 month old, it'll have to be a last minute decision.

WOS hit the gap this same week last year for a reason....it's right after the holiday and NO clubs down there. Meaning....minimal traffic and excellent riding. Hell, we rode one of the roads in the area for something like 40 or 50 miles without even seeing anyone. This is definitely a great week to go, no doubt about it. As for schedule when out there...we'll have a plan in place due to our experience from last year but there are so many roads out there....we have more to discover and conquer. Twisty, I've been looking around and can't seem to beat that deal on a house (your hotel deal). Might be the best bet. As for distance to the Gap from Twisty's hotel.....maybe 10 minutes or something in that ballpark. Not bad at all.
