Ok I just got my TW tuner mag today. And I can’t believe what it is turning in to. I know it is sponsor of the site but I have to raise the question. I just thumbed though it and found that just about every other page is filled with a half naked chick. I mean a few here and there is ok but now we are reaching over kill. I now Becca said something about this in another thread and I kind of gave smart ass comment back but IM VERY SORRY BECCA,

Your right. I mean every other page. I read the article on setting the suspension and it incomplete and missing info that should have been included. But it was followed up by a half naked chick so that makes it ok.

I’m probly going to get banned for opening my mouth, but this is why I don’t plan on keeping the mag after my free offer expires. The Tech areas are small and have little creditable info in them. The articles are about squids. I mean who puts spoke rims on a R1? That has to be some sort of sin. It when 1st came out it was "ok" now it has turned itself into a "squid mag"

I’m sorry but American mags can compete with the Euro mags. Yes the Euro mags have chicks in them but they know where line is and they don’t cross it.

And Becca I know when I'm wrong, and I was. :yesnod:

Wow Twisty was wrong? Armageddon must be upon us!! The WORLD IS ENDING! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES... lol.. Mark this day on the calendar because it won't ever happen again..

Free subscription? What's that? I never got that.. I asked like 10 times and no ahh ahh.. I want to check it out.. Especially now you are talking naked chicks? Or at least half naked? I agree with Twisty and Becca that is totally over the line - they should be completely naked except maybe for high heels and nylons..

I live with and am marrying a female rider. I got to see a females face 1st hand. She was not happy to see this mag. I feel it is pushing away the female and non-squid public. Well Pippi is the one who signed up for the free deal.

I will bring it to the meeting for you. But remeber this is only pippi(female rider with lots of money to spend on magizines) and my opinion.

I will check it out but I do believe you. It is supposed to be a sportbike magazine not a half naked chick magazine - if you want that buy Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.. As far as the meeting better bring it in March because the is the next meeting I am at.. Maybe I will check it out on Friday when I come over..

I've seen the mag already, and while it does have a ton of HOT BABES, the articles on the project bikes seem to be pretty good, and atleast it wasn't totally filled with advertisements. They were there, but not like Motorcyclist or Sport Rider.

We always appreciate reader comments. On the subject of models, it's always interesting to see the two sides form - those that can't get enough skin and those that don't want to see any at all. As a male dominated industry, the latter tend to be the minority

In regards to the specific Jan/Feb issue in question - it would only be prudent to point out that there are no lude or provocative pictures. While two out of the twelve major stories include models as a major part of the theme, none of the models are half naked, in fact not a single picture in the magazine consists of anything close to a bikini shot.

To top it all off (pun intended), it seems that a good many of the advertisers in the industry have taken to using models in their ads - and while we do include those ads in the magazine, we do not have creative control over their content.

If you'd like your feedback to be printed in the magazine, please email [email protected] :dthumb:

Maybe some detailed "how to's" I thought the Suspension article could have used a little more to it. I have been around motorcycle my whole life so I'm pretty good at setting suspension but I know people with out the experience look to mags like this for help and I thought the article was poorly written and lacked valuable info that the "novice" rider could have used to his or her benefit. Thanks.

What you would have written differently in a "Suspension 101" type of article for riders with less experience than your own? I helped out on that article and I'm always looking for constructive criticism as I have only written a handful of articles. Don't be affraid to be honest, I won't take it personally.

Even though I might be considered biased, I have to agree that this issue had considerably less skin in the supporting pictures than in the past. Personally, I don't think it does much for the articles (except the one a while back about Gixxie who at least rides her bike). As far as I am concerned, the models might as well be naked if they are going to be in a magazine but I guess that is why my wife and I subscribe to Playboy. However, I still believe in the concept that 2WT's focus is on bikes built by regular owners and shops instead of some large-scale corporate entities just pimping their products.

I've been around since 2WT made their debut as a supplement in the back of Speed, Style, and Sound magazine and I have watched them grow. I think you should wait and see how the magazine progresses over the course of your subscription and decide at the end if you are going to renew. Just my $.02.

Can't comment about TWTuner magazine because I haven't read it, but it doesn't sound good. Let me tell you about my favorite motorcycle magazine, Motorcycle Consumer News. There is no advertising and no hotties. Just well-written tests on motorcycles and products, and excellent articles on riding, maintenance, and hop-ups. It's just black and white, and fairly expensive at $41/year.

When I buy a motorcycle magazine, I want an honest evaluation of the product or motorcycle. With no advertising, MCN can say if something is bad or doesn't work without any repercussions. Twisty, and probably many others would like this magazine. I know I do.

I got a free subscription to 2 Wheel Tuner as well and I agree with Twisy...the magizine is what it is, a magizine for squids, posers, what ever you want to call them. I am not saying there is anything wrong with it, there are plenty of magizines out that that are geared for real riders, and this gives these types of motorcycle owners (please note I did not say "riders") a place to show their stuff. If you you want to hook up your R1 with a pair of phat-azz daytons yo, then the cover of 2WT is for you. The mag is what it is, its just not really my kind of thing, although I may keep a subscription around for poops and giggles, I mean, who didn't laugh when they saw the spokes on that bike...to each his own, I don't see it as very far off from the ricers and their tuner mags, fun to look at, but I'm sure not going to pump 10K of bling into my Civic...

I would check out roadracing world or Performance bike, PB will have few chicks in but they do not use them to fill content.

Larry I respect your knowlegde of motorcycles, but this artical needs more info. If a person who has never set suspension tried to do this they would be lost. I had a big long thing written out but I decided to point you to a much better write-up and I hate sportrider but this good.

Guess I'll throw in my .02 here as well. Personally, having alot of babes in a bike mag doesnt really bother me. It's definately nice eye candy! I can see where some may be offended or just alittle dissapointed in it, but its the wave, even motorcyclist and sportrider are using them now. Whether that trend continues or not is anybody's guess, but I would tend to think it will for some time. Babes and bikes go hand in hand...IMO. Not disrespecting any female riders, cuz God knows there are alot who have more skillz than I do. If you can ride, you can ride. plain and simple

I read the article when it first came out, and since we moved its now packed away some where, UGH...but anywho, I dont remember seeing this, so if it's there, forgive me.....maybe some articles of women in motorcyling might be kinda cool..ones that ride, build and/or race. I know Laura at SpeedWerks is an avid track rider and knows her stuff. That might be something to consider adding as well.

Overall, yes its a mag with beautiful bikes, beautiful babes, and your basic how to articles.

Also if i missed this, perhaps a beginners corner or something like that..with basic how to's and questions and answers for things like general maint. , mods, suspension, tires, etc. The list is endless for that, but that could be kinda cool too.

Just my . :2cents:

As much as I hate them Sportrider has never once used a girl in there content. Now maybe their advertiser's do. But they NEVER use model in their content. It is was released in on of their issues last year. Gasman brought it over to my apartment. I remeber it clear as day. But with the Fox buy out of Speedvision and Speed owning part of the Sportrider publiching company that may change. I dont buy there mag either so I dont know.

The Sportrider write-up is a really good read. It is far more detailed than I intended to get into...This points out a real issue I have when trying to put together an article; who is my audience and what is their existing knowledge.

Given some of the questions I see on the boards that I frequent, I have to assume that my readers' knowledge is limited at best so I tend to go for very basic "101" type descriptions. I try not to get too technical while still explaining the basics of how things work. Other publications such as "Roadracing World and Motorcycle Technology" have more experienced technical writers and an audience with more riding/racing experience and therefore should (and do) have more technical breakdowns of motorcycle related systems.

Unless I missed something, I didn't think the Cornerspeed write-up was well written or clear. I disagree with some of what they write, including defining "static sag" as with the rider on the bike. Either way, I think you managed to point out both ends of the spectrum and I probably land somewhere in the middle.

I do appreciate the feedback and if you would rather discuss anything outside of this forum, feel free to email me at [email protected] anytime.

It seems like there is 3 issues at hand... here...

1. Does the babes with lots of skin showing bother people??

2. Was there enough tech stuff in the articles?

3. Does the average MC rider want to look at nothing but babes and trailer queen bikes?

A:
1. F those people...the babes are hot and they go together well. Are they needed...no...but it's nice!

2. Tech stuff is hard to do, as Twisty and Larry are seeing.... I haven't read the article in question so can't comment on it. But yes, alot of new riders have no idea what they're doing and need alot of extra guidence. Alot of those same riders aren't in WOS and don't have anybody to turn to, so they pic of a magazine to learn more.

3. While at times, when I'm just looking for pics and a few stats....a eye candy mag is ok. But as Rev was trying to point out, sometimes you need more content and substance....whether or not this is the case of 2WT or not, I can't say. Have only read 1 edition...

I would just throw in that you don't want to judge a magazine on one issue; any magazine for that matter.

I ran concurrent subscriptions to Road & Track, Car & Driver and Motor Trend for years before I finally settled on Car & Driver as my favorite. I don't have time to read all three so I picked the one that suited me best.

I don't know that there is 1 do-it-all-mag out there on the market today that has absolutely everything that everybody wants. Most of them do a few things better than others and vice versa..hence the reason the majority of us subscribe to more than one. But 2WT does a decent job of doing many things well.

I have been getting it for year now. I first got in when it came inside a car mag. Half the mag was cars and have the mag was TWT. I watched it from the start.

Girls are sweet Gas but when you start using them to fill content on poorly writtien articals that is problem. To me the girls arnt the problem.

Also Larry if you read the sportrider write-up is says the same thing as cornerspeed.

"SETTING STATIC SAG

One of the most important suspension settings is static sag--the amount your bike's suspension compresses when you sit on it. To set static sag, we use Race Tech mastermind Paul Thede's method, which takes into account any stiction in the components. It's best to have two friends to help--one to hold the bike while the other one measures--while you (fully dressed in your riding gear) do the compressing."

On the R6 "first ride" Where is the dyno charts? You guys went by claimed HP instead of your own dyno runs. The specs you guys gave I could get that from Yams website.

I however really like the wheel deal write-up.
