Times change. When I was a kid, there was five TV stations, two radio stations, the record player played one two-minute song from each disc, and if I was in the house, I had to do chores. I was always outdoors running around, no matter what the weather. I never see any kids outdoors now. They go from their air conditioned houses to air conditioned cars, where they continually watch a TV screen. But I blame the parents.

NW is right... times have changed... But it makes me think that there is no doubt why there is such a problem with fat kids. I just won't allow it when I have kids. Parents need to get rid of the playstations and crap and send them outside to play.

In the warm weather I was ALWAYS outside... playing hot wheels in the sand box, tag, hide n seek, "takin sweet jumps" on our bikes, playing in the pool...just being fun active kids... that just isn't the case anymore!

All I can say...

Is... Damm Right ! You hit the nail right on the 'Ole Head ! :dthumb: :dthumb:
Just think, that's the next generation of soldiers we are going to be recruiting from, and I just don't think we are going to be the World Super Power we once were. Can you even imagine any of those "Goo Baby's" trying to go thru Ranger, or "Q" school at Bragg ? :yikes: There ain't any Game Boy's, X-Box's, or air conditioning there. :2cents:

Finally!!!! A good tread...

America is becoming the home of the fat kids and pussies. When I was kid living in South Florida we use to jumped off a 20ft bridges into Gater infested water. Now adays all kids do is play video games and eat twinkes. It is sick, the kids that live on my block are all fat and do nothing but sit indoors all day. I mean sign your fat ****ing kids up to play football and let them get the piss ran out of them like I did. Make them mow the lawn or walk the fat a$$ dog.

freeze tag was the best. It was one of those things I had totally forget about childhood that popped into my brain randomly the other day at work.

'taking sweet jumps' were awsome too. I always wanted a dirtbike as a kid, but in a sense it was probably better that I had to pedal. I've always been skinny anyways, but still. It's a shame though, I'd have alot more experience now if I'd had a dirtbike then though.

This is only a problem for the class that can afford to dodge public schools, and keep thier kids fed, well dressed, entertained and comfortable in an aircondidioned house in a quiet cul de sac. the parents should know that just because you can afford the "bubble" doesnt mean you have to provide the "bubble". Unfortunately the bougeois ideal is rampant.

:skep: i kinda disagree, i think its across the board, just for diffrent reasons, for one class its they cant afford to take there kids out (it doesnt cost anything to goto a local creek, i kno) camping or the rents dont have any interest, so why should the kid, then there are the ppl that have the money to spoil the kids with video games and cell phones before they hit puberty, :flush: but i am talking about the general public, i just got back from fort lauderdale's strip :yikes: by the ocean, ppl there are just nuts!!!! :wbs: if anything like that was in OH, it wouldnt last long, :nonod: natural selection at its best. :dthumb: ...they wouldnt last, the red necks would take them out in one night :puke: :gary: ....
(edit on the way back on I-95 got buzzed by a ufb {unidentified fast bike} that had to be doing at least 150mph, ****er was cookin  made me realize not everyone is doomed for twinkies and fat chicks :dthumb: )

As a kid. I use to have to watch out for other kids playing and running across the dirt road that I rode my RM to and from the trail. Now that same road is paved and there is over 100 new homes in the area I use to ride. Strangely enough even with all the new homes. You seldom see any kids playing out side.

Got the same situation here up north, the kids are getting obese, lazy, ignorant, without any stamina and/or muscles and without any interest that doesn't come from TV or their teen magasine. Is it only their fault? I doubt it, lots of parents prefer to have them inside playing video games, they know where their kids are & that they wont get hurt if they are sitting on their a$$. Kids are not allowd to: climb trees, built little shacks on vacant land, do any teem sport like baseball (they need a teem uniform, to fit in a schedule & have license coach & umpires) on town's field, etc..... all spontaneity & sense of adventure & discovery as been ban from those kids because their parents wants to program the life of their kids. theirs parents, like it as been said are a bunch of whining-jeek-*****s :gary: , are responsible, most likely, kids imitate the beaviors of their parents, if dad is a lazy fat coach-potato big chance son is gonna be just like dad, if mom do nothing else then spend money in the malls, daughter will follow the patern. Sure we are afraid for them but chaining them on a chair with an Xbox wont be good for the kids. For the idea of those kids joining the ranks, I know (in Canada) that it is less demanding now phisically then it was & most of them think they are techs of some sort & they dont like or are afraid of using guns... FCS I really dont know were the north-american societies are going!!!! sound that we all agree that the N-A kids are in bad shape..... :disapp:

hey all, new member. i have been just reading these forums, but i had to post in this topic, so true.

i just graduated from a small private school in NC, i take pride in knowing my parents paid for it because they wanted me to have a good education. There are people there who are so spoiled, they get what they want, when they want, no matter what. cars, vacations etc.
it makes me feel priviledged knowing that i paid for my car (parents help with insuring it) and when i get a bike in a few months :dthumb: i will pay for every penny of it. I think it teaches lessons of money management, and creates character you cant learn or get anywhere else. So sad to hear of 4 year olds having "tv time"....thats just gross!

anyway, im sure there is another forum for a more proper introduction of myself, but hi :)
