Saw a Vespa on I696 a couple of days ago - is that even legal? I don't think so. I think he went from Hilton to Woodward - kind of like the far right lane exit lane for like 1/4 mile - still I was cruising on the R6 around 85 or so and looked over and saw the gay looking fellow on a powder blue vespa on the freeway - he was wearing a full face helmet, shorts, t-shirt, etc. - I was like WTF? lol...

On 696?!?!? :yikes:

That is nuts! :screwy:

For those that don't know 696 in Michigan is called the Michigan Autobahn. Speed limit 65 and EVERYBODY does like 90...no crap!

Badazz!!! A single sided front-end. I bet that thing is crazy mad in the twisties. Even got the modded left side mirror. You wouldn't want an ugly mirror up on the bar to detract from the beauty of that thing

I went to Italy for the weekend (I love Europe), and you wouldn't believe the amount of those things there! Old, new, Yama, Suzi, Honda...it kind of sucked. I thought in Rome I'd see more Ducs, 'Prillas...stuff like that? Nope, #1 mode of Transportation in the City...VESPA. Even on the Autostrada (Autobahn, Highway etc...) which doesn't really matter within 200 miles around Rome because traffic is HORRIBLE.

They're popular in Germany too, but not like this...I mean 10's of thousands :yikes:

I lived in Italy for 3 years and the Vespa is the way to travel. Many streets are narrow and most of the small towns have stone streets...that riding a bike is very slippery but the Vespa handles really well in those conditions...I think it's due to the smaller tires..but they are a blast to ride...especially the 125's and higher...great commuter bike if you live in the dorms or even just to go around town...it probably would be suicide to try to deal with the freeway or highway traffic but for streets it is a cool ride...but not the purple/blue one you guys posted..that one is :gary:

All interstate systems have a minimal speed. Usually 15 below what ever is posted.
You would have a hard time getting away with riding on like this on some county and state roads with 55+ speed limits.

didn't have a chance he was on and off too quick... i was 4+ lanes over exceeding the speed limit.. evasive navy seals manuevers would not have even worked... tried using the navy seals signals but to no avail.. brief moment of amazement followed by triple digit riding..

if you doing under triple digits on 696 you are going too slow.. funny thing was everywhere I went that day choppers wanted to race me.. so being bored with them and their 26hp i let them "get away" for a second and slow down to like 60 and then once they were waving victory i dropped a couple of gears and buzzed past them about 130 or so as close as possible.. lol..

You would have need to pull a Matrix move or maybe A torque move. That would have got you close enough.
