Interesting points:

The truck did not brake until an instant before impact

the truck never even began to swerve into the empty left lane, even after impact!

The rider saw it coming. You can see him start to stand up almost as if he is going to jump away. As fast as the truck was moving, I doubt if he would have had time to dump the clutch and try to shoot out of the way. Most riders in that kind of accident suffer really bad spinal injuries.

When sitting at a light like that, I watch the mirrors and tap the brake lights at a constant blip every half second or so. If the approaching vehicle shows no signs of slowing, I will start the process of engaging the clutch and revving the engine for a quick getaway.

now that kinda crap scares the shat out of me. what was the guy in the truck doing that he didnt see the red light, bike and cop car(im assuming that that is a cop camera). i mean i can understand paying too much attention to the cop but dayum wouldent that make you slow the fuk down a little and watch where you going.

Does anyone know if that guy survived. it looks like he got thrown out the way but he got hit real hard.

On CF, the guy hosting it is on that board said the guy survived with minimal injuries to himself. His bike on the other hand....... :nonod: ..

I saw that and didn't see how he could have made it out of it. I saw the after math and the bike didn't look to bad. I think it was an Indian. Big bike.

Also, when I stop behind a car, I try to stop off the rt rear qtr panel, so you don't get crushed btwn vehicles....

Not that it would've really helped there, daylight and all, but I also am a firm believer in sticking a big ol patch of reflective sticker on the back and sides of your helmet... the more the better...

That SOB could have swerved left or right to avoid the accident, but then he would have rolled for sure. According to the Hurt Report, only 6 percent of motorcycle accidents occur at the rear of the motorcycle. I usually check my mirrors until there is a vehicle stopped behind me. But if there is a vehicle approaching quickly from behind, do you want to go out into cross-traffic?

I know what happened, because I've seen it happen.

I've got someone pulled over for a ticket, the gawkers gaze into the red and blue lights and don't watch where they're going. BOOM! Rear-ender. The curiosity factor leads to a wreck-lessness.
