Although not a professional to say the least, haha, I was wondering what advice one could give me in trying to do a small catwalk(wheelie) or whatever its called these days. I have tried a few and seem to be able to a few deecent but short ones. I know its probably a dumb question, and most people will say im an idiot for trying it...well the rents do anyway, but yeah, any tips or ways to go about it, sitting down? standing up? Pulling up? leaning back? etc. Thanks! Dont scorn me for this question!!!

So are you asking a good way to learn to ride a wheelie?
Like a regular?
Here is my best attempt at teaching you to learn to ride a wheelie. At least it is the basics that count the most for your controll and safty.Good luck and dont jump into it.

Remember!!!! Before man can fly he must learn to crawl then walk, One cannot Fly into flight.

The first thing that you should do is to be sure you are comfy with power shifting you may need to up shift in between feathering the throttle. You should work on this technique while the bike is still on the ground and make it fluent and smooth and keeping the bike in its power range throughout the shift. (Not holding it out) just feathering up to speed and shifting along the way. Next work the throttle and the rear brake alternating twist on a little and back off with a tap of the brake also do this practice while the bike is on the ground. This will help you avoid front-end slam downs in a panic. Now that you have worked on finesse you are ready to start to pull up the front end a little at a time. It will take you a while to get used to reaching the fulcrum point of the bike or balancing center. The best way to do this is to use an up hill incline. This lets you find center and your front end isn’t that far off the ground. If you bike has the power to snap it up with the twist of the gas you can start off with more control than one that will require you to pop or feather out the clutch to get it up. Either way with practice you will be doing it like a pro in time. Just do yourself and your bike a favor and get the fundamentals down first that were mentioned in the beginning of this post. Your butt will thank you later,

Aint that the truth!!!!!!!!

But then Again, I havent "road a Wheelie" on my FZ. I think my age and having bills keeps me from wanting the tickets. But believe me it is as tempting as ever to want to. :willy:

I just read that other thread on wheelies and I bring my bike up without any clutch at all but im probably reving alot higher. WOuld it be better to use the clutch?

Ps. Im on an R6
I cant believe it should take that much to get your bike up with the gas. Just get it up and shift into second. When you get the balance point down your rpms will drop because you will be doing a throttle brake motion . If your High reving your not up yet. But there is no hurry, baby steps, ANd for god sake know where your bake brake lever is dont get yourself thinking jumping off the back was all you could do. My direction encourage you to also practice Throttle to rear brake while on the ground. this way when you need it it will happen before you make it happen.

The rear brake is your friend! I've seen Twisty come down hard using the rear brake cause he almost looped his GSXR 1K on the highway.... it added for some amusement!
This is why it is important to work ont the Throttle / brake alternating, it gives you the finesse needed so you dont do front end slams in a bit of a panic. You shouldnt have to tear your bike up to learn a wheelie. Finesse is your friend.
work on tecnique while it is flat on the ground and put it to use when it is up.
