Long time lurker first time poster. Let's start out with a new thread. Oh and by the way I already think :twfrox:

When you guys change your oil on your MC or car what do you do with the used oil?

I take mine to the auto parts store and they put it in this big oil refuse container, all they ask for is your info for some log.

Any other good ideas?

First off glad to see your not stalking er'ah I meen lurking anymore so :welcome: . It is good to have new peeps postin and as far as your question I just pour it into an old container and take it to the city waist drum for disposal.

I do the same with the auto oil.
Anyhow, Stick around. Post up more questions.

I take mine to Auto Zone... they do exactly what you said... poor it into a recycling container that is later sucked out by a semi truck and taken back to some facility to do recycle it.

I fill up old 5 quart oil jugs, winsheild washer fluid bottles, one gallon milk jugs. I keep them until I get about 10 jugs sitting around or more...then I just take the jugs to wal-mart and put it next to their big oil recycle bin.

Normally...

I just put it into a container and take it to work, where we have a recycle drum for "Waste Oil" and then a truck come's by every so often and sucks it out. I have used my used oil as a weather proofing for wood fencing, and wood sided building's, it starts out as a really nice dark brown, and then lighten's nicely as it weathers ! It also makes a nice weed killer !

doesnt have any runoff when it breaks down? Tell me more. im curious.

I just take mine to any auto parts store and utilize thier oil dump.

We're on the same road as a public school, and The State of Delaware conveniently put a recycling station next to our shop about 2 years ago (not just oil - cardboard, glass, etc). It rocks

Prior to that, we had to lug 5 gal buckets to the NAPA in town.

A lot of auto / other maintenance shops are using heaters that run off used oil now ... very cheap way to heat your garages. I wish we had a couple - the big industrial propane heaters cost a fortune to run during the winter (14 foot celings don't help).

Actually I use 5 gallon buckets from Aco and then dump it when they have a hazardous recycle day at the local community center.. It is free and about the right interval for my oil changes..

I have a 5 gal pale with a nice lid and spout on it.... pour the old in there... when it's full with MC and car oil and whatever else I pour in there... I take it to Auto Zone like I said above..

Looks like I'm a little late on this one but, It goes to the recycle center just a mile down the road.
